Return to normal or post content about the host of “Last Week Tonight” John Oliver, asked the three of the biggest subreddit communities from the Reddit users through a poll.

Three of the Biggest Reddit Communities Reopened

After the biggest subreddit communities recently went “dark” in order to protest against the upcoming API pricing policy announced by Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, three of the most popular Reddit communities reopened in the most hilarious way!

The r/pics, r/gifs, and r/aww Reddit communities conducted a poll asking the users if they should go back to normal or post content only featuring the “Last Week Tonight” host, Mr. John Oliver. Surprisingly, the poll results for all three communities ended up favoring the concept of posting John Oliver images and GIFs.

As reported by Verge, the poll results were,

“r/pics: return to normal, -2,329 votes; “only allow images of John Oliver looking sexy,” 37,331 votes.”

“r/gifs: return to normal, -1,851 votes; only feature GIFs of John Oliver, 13,696 votes.”

“r/aww: return to normal, -2,691 votes; only allow “adorable content featuring John Oliver, Chiijohn [a mascot], and anything else that closely resembles them,” 48,506 votes.

It is believed that the communities, through these polls have taken a dig at CEO Steve Huffman who reportedly said that most users would love to go back to normal instead of supporting the protest against the new pricing policy for third-party developers.

“As many of you are aware, we recently held a poll to decide on the future of the subreddit, this initiative was prompted by statements from Reddit’s CEO, who suggested that the desires of the platform’s everyday users were being eclipsed by those of moderators.” posted r/gifs moderator u/IronSentinel.

As a result of this, the top posts on these popular subreddit communities are all filled with John Oliver’s pics and GIFs including funny and weird ones. He even uplifted the latest Reddit trend by posting “Dear Reddit, excellent work” on one of the threads that included his laughable pictures.

The vote count at the polls has gone higher than the earlier count when the results were reported but the results still fall in favor of the John Oliver content. As per a mod, the poll at r/aww is still open for the users to vote and give their opinion, and in case the results go upside down, the moderation team will notice and do the needful.

While almost 4,000 subreddits are still private, a lot of other Reddit communities have already reopened soon after the two-day protest. If reports are to be believed, some of these subreddits reopened themselves to avoid getting reopened forcibly by the company itself.
