The Grammy Awards also called the Grammy, and originally called the Gramophone Award, is a series of awards presented every year in the United States to recognize exceptional talent in the music industry. The awards are presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences or the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The Grammys are the first of the three major networks’ music awards held annually. Grammys are held before the Billboard Music Awards in summer and the American Music Awards in fall. The Grammy is one of the four major annual awards in the American entertainment field. Others are the Academy Awards (for the film industry), the Tony Awards (for the field of the theater), and the Emmy Awards (for the television industry). Grammys 2022 created a huge response among the audiences and took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3.

History and Background of the Grammys

From 1958 to 1971, the Grammy Awards were not televised. In 1971, Pierre Cossette purchased the rights to broadcast the ceremony 1971. After this point, the Grammys started telecasting live. The word ‘Grammy’ in the ‘Grammy Awards’ is because the Grammy is a trophy or statuette awarded.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame projected the Grammys in the 1950s. The association realized many talented musicians across the United States. So, they started to recognize artists by creating and giving awards to them. This was similar to the Oscars or the Emmys, which were very popular at that time also. In 1958, the United States got its first Grammys winners. Each Grammy Award weighs six pounds, is gold plated, and made of a metal called “grammium”. All the trophies are trademarked by the craftsmen who make the trophies.
