The Saraswati Samman Award is an annual prize and it is among the highest in the field of Indian literature. It is an annual award for outstanding prose or poetry literary works in any language of India listed in Schedule VIII of the Indian Constitution. Recently, Saraswati Samman 2022 presented to Sivasankari, a Tamil writer for her book of memoirs “Surya Vamsam”. Saraswati Award 2023 Winner

Sivasankari, a Tamil writer was presented with the 32nd recipient of the Saraswati Samman 2022 for her book of memoirs “Surya Vamsam”. In her memoir 2019, Surya Vamsam consists of two volumes, the first is about the metamorphosis from a child to a young writer, and the second is about the life and times of an acclaimed author spreading her wings.

Sivasankari was born (14 October 1942) in Madras. She is an Indian author, who writes in Tamil. Sivasankari’s literary career spans over five decades. She authorizes 36 novels, 150 short stories, 48 novellas, 15 travelogues, three biographies, and seven collections of essays. She is the author of the novel Avan, which was made into a TV series called Subah on Doordarshan in 1987. The Library of Congress has seventy-two titles of her works.

  • The Notable Telugu poet Dr K. Siva Reddy received the 28th Saraswati Samman in 2018 in recognition of his poetry book “Pakki Ottigilite.”
  • Vasdev Mohi, a well-known Sindhi author, received the 29th Saraswati Samman in 2019. He received this honor for his well-known “Chequebook” (Short Story Series).
