Python | Pandas Series.last()

Pandas series is a One-dimensional ndarray with axis labels. The labels need not be unique but must be a hashable type. The object supports both integer- and label-based indexing and provides a host of methods for performing operations involving the index.
Pandas Series.last()
function is a convenience method for subsetting final periods of time series data based on a date offset.
Syntax: Series.last(offset)
Parameter :
offset : string, DateOffset, dateutil.relativedelta
Returns : subset : same type as caller
Example #1: Use Series.last()
function to return the entries for the last 5 Days in the given series object.
import pandas as pd
sr = pd.Series([ 'New York' , 'Chicago' , 'Toronto' , 'Lisbon' , 'Rio' , 'Paris' ])
index_ = pd.date_range( '2010-10-09' , periods = 6 , freq = '2D' )
sr.index = index_
print (sr)

Now we will use Series.last()
function to return the entries for last 5 days in the given series object.
result = sr.last( '5D' )
print (result)

As we can see in the output, the Series.last()
function has returned the entries for the last 5 days in the given series object. Notice the function has not returned the last 5 entries but the last 5 days entries.
Example #2 : Use Series.last()
function to return the entries for the last 4 months in the given series object.
import pandas as pd
sr = pd.Series([ 11 , 21 , 8 , 18 , 65 , 84 , 32 , 10 , 5 , 24 , 32 ])
index_ = pd.date_range( '2010-10-09' , periods = 11 , freq = 'M' )
sr.index = index_
print (sr)

Now we will use Series.last()
function to return the entries for last 4 months in the given series object.
result = sr.last( '4M' )
print (result)

As we can see in the output, the Series.last()
function has returned the entries for the last 4 months in the given series object.
