PyQt5 QDateEdit – Stepping Date by some value
Last Updated :

In this article we will see how we can step the date of the QDateEdit. Stepping date means to change the date with specific value, the current selected section i.e day, month or year value get changed every time. Arrow buttons performs same action but they increment only by one only, although we can remove that button and make our own button.
Note : When any section reaches the maximum value then it will not increment anymore, for example, month section can not be incremented after month 12
In order to do this we use stepBy
method with the QDateEdit object
Syntax : date.stepBy(n)
Argument : It takes integer as argument
Return : It returns None
Below is the implementation
from PyQt5.QtWidgets import *
from PyQt5 import QtCore, QtGui
from PyQt5.QtGui import *
from PyQt5.QtCore import *
import sys
class Window(QMainWindow):
def __init__( self ):
super ().__init__()
self .setWindowTitle( "Python " )
self .setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 500 , 400 )
self .UiComponents()
self .show()
def UiComponents( self ):
date = QDateEdit( self )
date.setButtonSymbols( 2 )
date.setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 150 , 40 )
push = QPushButton( "Step By 5" , self )
push.setGeometry( 100 , 170 , 100 , 30 )
push.clicked.connect( lambda : push_method())
def push_method():
date.stepBy( 5 )
App = QApplication(sys.argv)
window = Window()
sys.exit(App. exec ())
