Power BI – How to Publish App?

Microsoft Power BI Provides an interface to create and publish our content and reports as an app. With this app, we can include many reports and dashboards in one app and all this information can be accessed by the user or authorized person on the created app. We can also include multiple audiences and can also select what information should be disclose or hide. Here We we will create and publish an App using Power BI Workspace Interface.

Steps to Create and Publish Power BI App 

In order to download Power BI report data, Click here. Following are the steps to create and publish the Power BI app:

Step 1: Open Power BI Service and Click on Workspace.

Step 2: Following Interface will show. Now We are going to Create a new Workspace so  Click on Create a Workspace. If you directly want to create and publish an app on existing workspace reports and dashboards then you can open your workspace and directly go to the next steps from Step 8. 

Step 3: For Creating New Workspace, Enter the Workspace name and Description whatever you want. Next Click on Save.

Step 4: Power BI Workspace is created. Now we need to upload data in this new workspace. Hover on Upload. 

Step 5: It will show following interface. Click on Browse. 

Step 6: Now we need to select Power BI Data from our local computer. If you want to use this data then before Step 1. There is one attached link to download this data. After the Selection of data now click on Open. 

Step 7: Now Our Workspace will look like this where Marks’ data Report and Dataset is Uploaded. 

Step 8: Now we have to create an app. For Performing this task click on the right-side Button Create App. 

Step 9: Following Interface will show. Enter the Name of App and you can select the app color and as well logo. We are using the Green Color and the Logo of GFG. Now Click on Next Add Content .

Step 10: Now we need to add data whatever we want to include in the App. Click on Add Content.

Step 11:  Next we have to Select our Reports and Dashboards.  We are going to select the Report that we have uploaded in previous steps. you can select based on what reports and dashboards you have in a specific Workspace. Next Click on Add.

Step 12: After Adding Reports and Dashboards, The Interface will look like this. Now we need to Enter to which person we want to give access to this created app. You can select a whole organization or any specific person. You can also add a new audience.  In our case, We want to give access to myself so I will enter the details of my account.  After Performing this activity Next step is to publish this created app. Click on Publish App button. 

Step 13: It will show the following interface. Read the information and Click on Publish . 

Step 14: We can see our App is Published Successfully. There is two way to ways to access this app. We can share this link with respective people for accessing or they can directly go into Get apps. Now Click on Go to app.  

Step 15: Our published Reports and content in form of the Power BI app will show like this.

Step 16: Next we can verify our app is published in perfectly or not. Go to Home. In the list of published all types of data, we are able to see our App Name as GFG  is also there. 

Step 17: If we will click on GFG then it will open our app perfectly. 

In this way, we can create and publish Apps in Power BI.

1. Using Power BI App we can make one Platform that has multiple dashboards, Reports.
2. We can give access to a specific person or the whole organization.
3. We can also create many numbers of audiences for an app.
4. It is very easy to create. 
5. It also provides many features like selecting colors and logos for making apps whatever we want.
