According to some standard sources the net worth of the Russian President is allegedly more than $200 billion. However, the Russian government and Putin himself personally have declined all claims about his net worth and his personal life. Despite the fact that Putin is rich, Forbes is not able to put him on the list of Forbes Billionaires because they can’t verify his billion-dollar net worth.

Personal Life of Putin

Putin was born in a middle-class family on 7 October 1952 in Leningrad, Soviet Union. His mother was a factory worker while his father was a soldier in the navy of the Soviet Union fighting against Germany.

On 28 July 1983, Putin married Lyudmila Shkrebneva, and they continued to live together in Germany till 1990 when Putin became the international affairs advisor to the mayor of Saint Petersburg. They have two daughters Mariya Putina and Yekaterina Putina. He officially divorced his wife in 2014. Putin since then has been reportedly seen with his Olympic gold medallist girlfriend Alina Kabaeva. According to several newspapers and magazines, they also have 4 children, but since then those newspapers have been shut down as a topic of speculation against the kremlin.

Putin’s Rise in Politics

In May 1990, Putin was appointed by the Prime Minister to become the international affairs advisor to the mayor of Saint Petersburg city of Russia. Then, in 1994 he became the deputy chairman of the government of Saint Petersburg for managing the administration. By March 1997, Putin was the senior deputy chief of the Presidential staff in the house of the Russian President. Putin then joined the Federal security service under the secret agencies of Russia. In August 1999, Putin became one of the three deputy prime ministers of the Russian government and on the exact same day, he became the acting prime minister of Russian replacing President Boris Yeltsin. President Yeltsin resigned due to unknown reasons and Putin became the new Acting President of the Russian Federation.

After the resignation of the Acting President of the Russian Federation, Putin won the elections in 2000 by more than 53% votes. Then in March 2004, he again won the presidential elections held by more than 71% votes. After that, Putin can’t become the Russian president so he amended the constitution to have 2 more presidential sessions of 6 years after retirement. In May 2008, he used power switching between Medvedev to again become the president of Russia. In 2012, Putin won the Russian presidential election with 63.6% votes. There are several accusations against Putin that he misused his power against opponents and in elections.

Putin again won the 2018 Russian presidential election with more than 76% of the votes beyond which his presidential career will finish but according to his amendment to the constitution, he can still be the Russian president till 2036.
