She was born in Hyderabad on 13th Feb, 1879 in a Bengali Brahmin family. Her father, Aghorenath Chattopadhyay belongs to a Bengali Brahmin family. Her father was a renowned principal of Nizam college. Her mother Barada Sundari Devi was a well known poetess.

Education of Sarojini Naidu

Sarojini Naidu was a brilliant student from her early age. At the age of 12, she passed the matriculation exams with higher marks from Madras University. For the excellence rank in matriculation exam, she got a scholarship from the Nizam of Hyderabad for her higher study in abroad.

At the age of sixteen, Sarojini Naidu went to England for higher education. She started her study at King’s College London and then at Girton College, Cambridge.
