When I was in my first year, I didn’t know what kind of things were required for placements and internships. So, I preferred to seek advice from my seniors who were proficient in programming and had seized opportunities. They suggested I focus on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and choose a tech stack to work on projects. Consequently, I ventured into web development. After some time, I discovered a subfield called UI/UX design, which involves designing the entire architecture of a website, demanding strong research and understanding of basic design principles. Realizing my strong interest in this field, I began learning Figma and the fundamental principles of design. After gaining some proficiency, I started applying for internships.

Using LinkedIn, I came across an internship opportunity at KunatoAI for UI/UX design. I applied for it, and fortunately, my resume was shortlisted. Subsequently, I received an email for an interview round, which made me quite nervous. During the interview, the interviewer asked me to introduce myself first. Then, he inquired about the basic principles of design and requested to see some of my works. I shared my screen and showcased my Behance portfolio, presenting some of my projects. After the interview, when asked if I had any questions, I inquired about feedback since it was my first interview. The interviewer mentioned that I showed promise but also advised me to gain more experience, which I realized was valid.

The questions asked during the interview were as follows:

  1. Introduction about yourself.
  2. Why do you want to join this role?
  3. Basic principles of design.
  4. Portfolio showcase.
  5. Why do you think you are the perfect fit for this role?
