Before You Begin Transfer EPF Online

  • Activate your UAN: Ensure your Universal Account Number (UAN) is active and linked to your Aadhaar and PAN card. If not, head over to the EPFO website: https://www.epfindia.gov.in/ to activate it.
  • Gather your required Documents: Keep your previous and current employer details handy, including their establishment codes and your PF account numbers.
  • Verify mobile number: Make sure the mobile number linked to your UAN is active and accessible for receiving OTPs (one-time passwords).

Steps to Transfer EPF Online

Step 1: Log in to the EPFO Portal

Visit the official EPFO website (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/) and navigate to “Online Services.” Under “For Employees,” select “One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request).

Step 2: Get Ready for the Transfer

Click “Apply Online” and enter your UAN and password. Review your personal information and confirm accuracy. Click “Get Details” to retrieve your previous account information.

Step 3: Choose Your Approval Method

Select the employer who will digitally approve your transfer request: your current or previous employer. Ensure they have registered digital signatures for online approval. Enter the required details (Member ID or UAN) and choose “Get OTP.” Enter the received OTP to proceed.

Step 4: Submit Your Transfer Request

Fill out the online EPF transfer claim form (Form 13) with details like your previous PF account number, reason for transfer, and preferred transfer mode. Choose “Aadhaar-based OTP” for verification and enter the received OTP. Click “Submit.”

Step 5: Track and Relax

A tracking ID will be generated. Use it to monitor the status of your transfer request on the EPFO portal. You’ll receive updates via SMS and email. Your employer will also be notified electronically for approval.
