Whether you’ve misplaced your card, suspect fraudulent activity, or simply want to close your account, knowing the process for blocking and closing your SBI Credit Card is crucial. This guide will walk you through both processes step-by-step.

  • Select your preferred language and follow the instructions to reach the “Lost/Stolen Card” section.
  • Provide your card details and other information requested by the representative.
  • Your card will be blocked immediately.

Option 2: Via SMS

  • Send an SMS in the format “BLOCK XXXX” (replace XXXX with the last four digits of your card number) to 5676791.
  • You will receive a confirmation message once your card is blocked.

Option 3: Through SBI Card Netbanking

  • Visit the SBI Card website (https://www.sbicard.com/) and log in to your netbanking account.
  • Go to the “Services” tab and click on “Block Lost/Stolen Card.
  • Select your card and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Your card will be blocked immediately.

2. Closing Your SBI Credit Card

If you no longer wish to use your SBI Credit Card, you can permanently close your account. However, before proceeding, ensure you have:

  • Settled all outstanding dues: This includes your credit card bill, any applicable late fees, and over-limit charges.
  • Paid any annual fees: If your card has an annual fee, you must pay any outstanding fees before closure.

Once you’ve taken care of these points, proceed with the following steps to close your SBI Credit Card:

Option 1: Through Customer Care

  • Call the SBI Card helpline numbers mentioned above.
  • Inform the representative that you wish to close your account.
  • They will ask you to confirm your details and reason for closing the account.
  • Once confirmed, your account will be closed within 7 working days.

Option 2: By Writing a Letter

  • Draft a letter requesting closure of your SBI Credit Card account.
  • Include your card details, contact information, and a brief reason for closure.
  • Sign the letter and mail it to: SBI Card, PO Bag 28, GPO, New Delhi-110001

Important Notes

  • Do not forget to cut your credit card diagonally after receiving confirmation of closure.
  • Closing your account may affect your credit score. Consider the potential impact before making this decision.
  • For any further information or clarifications, visit the SBI Card website or contact their customer care.
