The Coca-Cola company is one of the most popular American multinational companies that is famous for its beverage called Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola Company is famous for manufacturing and producing various beverages which include non-alcoholic beverages, sugar syrups, and alcoholic beverages as well. The Coca-Cola company employs more than 85000 employees worldwide and it is currently headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

The CEO of the Coca-Cola company is James Quincey. The Coca-Cola Company is currently listed on the New York stock exchange. It has a market cap of over 264.45 billion dollars and it generated a revenue of around 40 billion dollars in the financial year 2021. The products of the Coca-Cola company include many syrups and beverages like Coca-Cola, Fanta, Limca, etc.

Coca-Cola – History & Overview:

The first soft drink in the world was invented by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia. This soft drink was derived from cocaine and caffeine which acted as a pain reliever and a stimulant to be used as a health tonic. This tonic was later named Coca-Cola and it was patented as medicine by John Stith Pemberton. Later on, in 1889, he sold his patent formula to Asa Griggs Candler who founded the Coca-Cola company in 1892 in Atlanta. Initially, it was only focused on manufacturing various anchor bottlers called Coca-Cola refreshments.

Then in 1919, the company was purchased by the Trust Company of Ernest Woodruff. Coca-Cola began to expand all over the world by grabbing more than 60 percent of the market share of beverages.

Coca-Cola acquired the famous lemon-flavored beverage called Minute Maid in 1960. It also acquired a movie production studio called Columbia Pictures in 1982 for more than 700 million dollars. Coca-Cola used the Columbia pictures studio to film various advertisements using the entertainment business sector of Tristar pictures which it later sold back to Sony Inc. for 3 billion dollars. Coca-Cola also acquired the Indian beverage called Thumbs Up in 1993 and Barq’s in 1995. But till the late 1990s, Coca-Cola lost a majority portion of its customers to the emerging PepsiCo company and Monster Energy beverages.

In 1999, Coca-Cola purchased a huge stake in the beverage companies Inca Kola, Odwalla, and Fuze Beverages. The Coca-Cola Company acquired the famous Chi Limited in 2016. Later on, in 2017, it required the famous Mexican sparkling brand water company called Topo Chico. The biggest acquisition made by Coca-Cola was to acquire Costa Coffee from the Whitbread company for more than 4 billion pounds in 2018.
