Marvel has been dominating pop culture for the last decade. It is one of the biggest comic book franchises of our age. The comic started publishing in 1939 and has a rich history. The comics have given us some iconic heroes and villains. There were some great moments as well. Well, here’s a list of 30 of Marvel’s most powerful villains.

The 30 Most Powerful Marvel Villains

30. Knull

Also known as: God of the symbiote

Featured in: Thor: God of Thunder #6

Creator: Donny Cates & Ryan Stegman

Abilities: Immortality, Superhuman strength, shapeshifting

The God of Symbiote is an ancient entity that existed in the Void between the sixth and seventh cosmos. He is the creator of the symbiote, so he is the father of Venom, Carnage, and Anti-Venom. The first symbiote appeared as a sword that Knull used to kill a celestial, who later became “Nowhere,” which also appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, Infinity War, and the Holiday Special in the MCU.

Knull first appeared in the Marvel comics in Thor: God of Thunder in March 2013. Knull is extremely powerful; he has made a stand against the celestials on his own; he is the god of darkness; and he controls all the symbiotes in the Marvel Multiverse. And that makes Knull not only a powerful villain but one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel comic-verse.

29. The Mother of Horrors or Lilith

Also known as: Lillith

Featured in: Ghost Rider volume 3 #23

Creator: Mark Wolfman & Gene Colman

Abilities: Divinity, Vast Magic, ability to summon demons, phagogenesis

Based on the real-life mythological creature, Lilith in the Marvel comics is the mother of all demons and horrors that have troubled humanity for aeons. The first wife of Adam hates the children of Eve and has been a curse to their existence. While Lilith’s origins are lost in history, there are billions of variations: some claim she was a fallen angel, some claim she seduced Adam and had his children, and some say she was Adam’s original wife.

Whatever her origins might be, she is one of the worst villains in the comics, as her name suggests. She is definitely a powerful entity that is utterly evil and hellbent on destroying the human race for the transgression of her children. The Mother of Horrors first appeared in 1992 in Ghost Rider Vol. 3.

28. Korvac

Also known as: The Enemy

Featured in: Giant Size Defender #3

Korvac is a computer technician from the year 2977 AD. He was born in the Blue Area of the Moon of Earth 691. He betrayed his people after an alien race attacked them, the Badoon. Later, he betrayed them as well and was punished by them. The Badoons amputated Korvac and turned him into a cyborg, but this gave him superhuman ability that is on the level of a god. Korvac first appeared in Giant Size Defenders in October of 1974.

27. Gorr The God Butcher

Also known as: The God Butcher

Featured in: Thor: God of Thunder #2

Creator: Jason Aaron & Esad Ribic

Abilities: Immortality & Superhuman Strength

Gorr, The god butcher, was a letdown for Marvel comic fans in Thor, Love, and Thunder, and rightfully so. Gorr, in the comics, came from a desert planet with no name. His people were superstitious, and he was taught to believe in gods. A lot of Gorr’s people died, but he did get married and have children, but even they died from starvation. His wife, Agar, was pregnant when an earthquake killed her. This led Gorr to believe that gods did not exist, but his people, who were extremely superstitious, exiled him and prayed for gods to kill him.

As Gorr wandered through the desert alone, he came across Knull and another god fighting. When Gorr approached the golden god, who begged for help, he realized that gods did indeed exist and did not care about their worshippers. The enraged Gorr used Knull’s sword, killed the dark elder god, and went on massacring the gods across the universe. Gorr first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder in November 2012.

26. Kang

The next big bad of the MCU and the descendant/cousin of Reed Richards is a time traveler from the 31st century. He is extremely powerful because of his time-traveling ability and the technology of his time. Kang becomes a formidable threat due to the fact that he is unkillable; even if you kill Kang, he’ll appear again in some other form. He was intrigued by the technology created by Victor Von Doom and traveled back in time to ancient Egypt. The fun part about Kang is that he keeps losing and keeps returning. Kang first appeared as Pharaoh Rama-Tut in The Fantastic Four in 1961.

But the beyonders stole his power and trapped him on a moon outside the multiverse. The enraged Lost One got released, scouted the multiverse for the beyonders, found them on Earth, and attacked the planet. As a frost giant, he is extremely strong, with superhuman strength, durability, and a long life—close to immortality.

Loki has been a hero and then a villain again and again in the comics, and that makes his character very unpredictable and gives his enemies a lot of trust issues. Loki is also one of the oldest Marvel characters; he first appeared in Venus in May 1949.

22. Magneto

Also known as: Max Eisenhardt

Featured in: X-Men #1

This led him to become an extremist.
