NATA and JEE Paper 2 are both entrance exams for architecture programs, but they have some key differences:
- Purpose and Acceptance:
- NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture): This test is specifically for architecture. Many architecture colleges in India accept NATA scores for admission to their B.Arch programs.
- JEE Paper 2: This is part of the JEE Main exam, mainly for engineering, but it also includes a test for architecture (B.Arch) and planning (B.Planning). It’s accepted by colleges that take JEE scores, like NITs and CFTIs.
- Exam Structure:
- NATA: It focuses solely on architecture. The test assesses drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking ability related to architecture.
- JEE Paper 2: For B.Arch, it includes a drawing test, along with tests on mathematics and aptitude. For B.Planning, it includes planning-based questions instead of the drawing test.
- Frequency and Conducting Body:
- NATA: Conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA), usually twice a year.
- JEE Paper 2: Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as part of the JEE Main, typically twice a year.
- Scope of Admission:
- NATA: Scores are used by various state-level and private colleges for B.Arch admissions.
- JEE Paper 2: Primarily for admission to centrally-funded institutions like NITs and CFTIs.
