What is a Warranty? – When an item is purchased by the customer the seller deals an agreement that if the product fails to perform well in that specified period the seller will fix the problem with that product at no cost. This warranty case does not work with every product it’s up to the seller, he will give the warranty on the product or not. But once the warranty is given the seller is bound to repair the product.

What Warranty Covers?

Warranty generally covers every hardware aspect of the product but if anything undergoes malfunctioning because of an accident then the warranty on the product violets and the seller could revoke the warranty from the product in the future also.

For example- In the case of laptops every hardware part(keyboard, speaker, display, etc) is under the warranty cover but when any hardware does not perform well due to human interference or due to accidental damage the laptop seller will revoke the warranty, then for every repair the customer has to pay money to the company. It is always advisable for the customer to explicitly ask what the warranty covers before buying any product from the seller.

How Does a Warranty Work?

Many companies as of now do not call from the front to ask whether the product works fine or not. So, whenever any product is under the warranty period or it’s not performing well just go to the store with all your bills or you can call the customer care of that company you will be helped. Now take two small cases of different products, Suppose you bought a laptop and some hardware functionalities don’t work well then you can either go to the shop or you can directly call the customer service they will come to the home and repair it, now in case of this laptop it contains its unique serial number so even if someone doesn’t have any bill with the help of that serial number the laptop can be repaired.

Now in the second case belt does not have any serial number and for repairing the belt no company has a policy that they will come to your home for repair. So this belt has to be taken to the nearest shop with all the bills that are provided at the time of purchase. On the other hand, if the item is purchased from an online website the process goes the same just keep all the purchased bills with you.

Guarantee vs Warranty

This warranty and guarantee are used interchangeably. In this present scenario, only a few companies left who give guarantees on their product most of the companies restricted themselves to warranty only. Now the question is what makes the companies or brands restrict themselves on the warranty only.

Now, the guarantee is a more restricted form of warranty because in this case if the product does not perform well then the product will be replaced and a new product will be provided to the customer or the company has to refund the amount back to the customer. Guarantee also limited for some years and it cannot be exceeded by giving some extra money. Since there is a case of replacing the product to avoid that situation the brands restrict themselves to warranty. As guarantee leads to more extra expenses for the company.
