Toyota Motor Corporation is one of the largest Japanese multinational car manufacturing companies. It is currently headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi in Japan. Toyota currently holds the world record for producing the largest number of vehicles in the whole world. Toyota manufactures and sells over 8 million cars per year. Toyota currently employs more than 360000 employees. In the year 2021, Toyota generated a revenue of 245 billion dollars. Toyota is the largest car manufacturing company in the world after Tesla in terms of a market capitalization of over 199.994 billion dollars.

Toyota Motor Corporation currently produces vehicles under 5 brand categories namely - Hino, Lexus, Daihatsu, Ranz, and Toyota. The parent companies of Toyota motors include Mazda, Suzuki, Isuzu, Yamaha motor corporation, Panasonic, Subaru corporation, and Kirloskar.

Toyota Motor Corporation is currently listed on multiple stock exchanges like the London stock exchange, Tokyo stock exchange, New York stock exchange, and Nagoya Stock Exchange.

Toyota – History & Overview:

Toyota Motor was initially founded by Kiichiro Toyoda on August 28, 1937. Back at that time, it was a part of the Toyota industry which used to produce machines by the machine maker Sakichi Toyoda. The first product made by Toyota industries was the manufacturing of type A engine in 1934 and then it also produced the first passenger car in 1936 called the Toyota AA. And now both the companies Toyota industries and Toyota motors are collaborative working as a single unit called Toyota group.

During the time of World War II, Japan was in an alliance with the United States due to which Toyota gained the opportunity to establish industries in America to learn from the American manufacturing system also led to the globalization of Toyota multinational companies around the world.

By the mid-1970s, Toyota was mainly targeting its car manufacturing for the growing middle-class and upper-class society. One of the Toyota cars called Corolla became insanely famous among all the people as the best-selling car of all time. It also helped Toyota to become one of the largest automakers in the world and Japan in terms of revenue.

Toyota later on, in 1997 introduced hybrid electric vehicles like Toyota Prius. These vehicles allowed Toyota to manufacture vehicles having both combustion engines and electric motors for better fuel economy. Toyota has also experimented with new car technology in the past like hydrogen fuel vehicles that will change the future of cars. By 2012, Toyota sold more than 200 million cars all over the world.

Toyota – Products and Services:

The various products and services provided by Toyota are as follows:

Pickup Trucks – Toyota has been famous for its pickup trucks. The most popular pickup drugs manufactured by Toyota in North America include Tundra and T100.

SUV – The super utility vehicles manufactured by Toyota include Fortuner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Prado, and Rush.

Crossovers and Hatchback – The crossovers and hatchbacks popularly sold by Toyota motors include Yaris Cross, CH-R, RAV4, Harrier, Venza, Highlander, and Etios Liva.

Luxury Vehicles – Toyota motors sell its flagship luxury vehicles under the brand name Lexus. The Lexus brand under Toyota has two models namely Crown Premium Sedan and Century Limousine.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles – The hybrid electric vehicles of Toyota combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor that ensures high fuel savings. Toyota’s most famous electric vehicles include the Prius, Yaris, and Corolla.

Electric Vehicles – Currently Toyota Motors is only selling Toyota Prius as an electric car in the United States. It includes the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid and Toyota RAV4 Prime.

Hydrogen Fuel Vehicles – Toyota was the first company to test hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the world. The Toyota Mirai was the car that had the prototype of hydrogen fuel cells with an estimated range of 700 km.

Robots – Toyota has also manufactured multiple robots that help them in manufacturing their vehicles as part of Toyota’s industries. In 2017, Toyota made a humanoid robot that can copy the motions of a person.
