Sushi is one of the popular Japanese dishes which is made up of flavored rice and seafood wrapped inside. The original name of Sushi is Narezushi, the original form of sushi. This belongs to archaic language which means ‘Sour Taste’. Sushi was first introduced during the 5th and 3rd BC centuries in Southeast Asia. In 8th Century sushi, Narezushi appeared in Japan and survive in the japan country as carp sushi. Sushi appeared in the Yoro Code in the year 1820 by a man Hanaya Yohei himself discovered the modern form of Sushi and it has been many changes compared to sushi which was first invented ever.

Hanaya Yohei developed his Nigiri-zushi stall around 1824 in Ryogoku. The reason behind this dish becoming popular is – to preserve raw fish and salted fish in fermented rice, this processed fish used is stored for a few months without spoiling. The process which used to preserve fish has now become the most famous cuisine and favorite dish for many of us. Strange right? First, only fish which is rolled in fermented rice was eaten, by removing the fermented rice. Days going on, the Japanese enjoyed the combination of fermented rice and raw fish. 

Types Of Sushi:

  • Narezuchi
  • Namanarezushi
  • Izushi
  • Nigirizushi
  • Oshizushi
  • Hayazushi

Narezuchi: This Dish was consumed by discarding rice from fish and fish used to be eaten.

Namanareszushi: This is the next version of Narezuchi, in this dish fish, was partially cooked.

Izushi: In this type, Rice is added with vegetables and rolled in the bamboo leaf which gives flavor to the yeast-mixed rice.

Nigirizushi: This type is the original version of sushi consisting of small rice balls rapped inside with raw or dry fish.

Oshizushi: This type is not a fermented process it is just flavored rice and fish inside the roll.

Hayazushi: In this type, the first time rice was not flavored but made with vinegar mixed and rolled with fish, and some veggies were added which used to be consumed both fish and rice at a time.

Sushi was not only famous in china and japan it is also a popular and most favorite dish in the USA. In the USA this Sushi was served at a function and then it became more popular and everyone get to know about the Japanese dish taste. Slowly it evolved over the USA and a restaurant was opened in metro cities later it became street food which is made within minutes freshly. 

For people who want to try sushi but are nervous about raw and dry fish, for them they introduced vegetable rolls. This vegetable roll is made up of cucumber and avocado stuffed inside the flavored rice which will be the best option to start eating sushi who are not willing to eat raw fish sushi or any seafood sushi. Preparation of Sushi:

The three main ingredients of Sushi are

  1. Raw fish
  2. Nori sheet
  3. Sushi rice

Preparation:

Step 1: Prepare the rice, if it’s flavored rice add the item which gives you the flavor to the rice and nori sheet. Place the Nori on the Bamboo mat or Rolling mat ever is available with you to roll.

Step 2: Spread the rice on the Rolling mat. Add the veggies.

Step 3: Place the Raw fish or veggies or any seafood on the spread rice.

Step 4: roll the total ingredients using a rolling mat or Bamboo mat.

Step 5: Move the whole rolled thing on a pad safely for cutting 

Step 6: Cut the whole roll into small rolls which is comfortable to eat.

Step 7: Finally our favorite step serve the Sushi rolls and enjoys the dish…..

Rice which is made for sushi is stuck to the nori and stuff, the reason behind this is due to high starch and moisture in the rice makes it sticky. To make this perfect Sushi rice which is small-grained Japanese rice grains and medium size California rice grains.

Japanese sushi has nori rolled outside and in western sushi, this nori sheet is rolled inside so that rice will be outside the nori sheet. In Japan sushi costs less while in the US it is more expensive comparatively. The reason behind this is due to the fish which is used in japan is a local one and the fish used for sushi in the US is an imported one. Because of this reason Sushi is expensive in the US. The traditional way of sushi is one of the best food for the diet. This helps in weight loss and people who are trying to lose the wat can add this dish to their diet plan. Most Japanese food dishes will be light and have simple ingredients which don’t gain weight or any bad fat.
