jQuery | stop() with Examples

The stop() method is an inbuilt method in jQuery which is used to stop the currently running animations for the selected element.

Syntax:

$(selector).stop(stopAll, goToEnd);

Parameters: This method accepts two parameters as mentioned above and described below:

  • stopAll: It is optional parameter and the value of this parameter is boolean. This parameter is used to specify whether or not to stop the queued animations as well. The default value of this parameter is false.
  • goToEnd: It is optional parameter and the value of this parameter is boolean. This parameter is used to specify whether or not to complete all animations immediately. The default value of this parameter is false.

Return Value: This method returns the selected element with stop method applied.

Below examples illustrate the stop() method in jQuery:



Example 1: This example does not contains any parameter.
