Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) is the terminal control for the use of Voice (Communication) Channel over IP i.e. (VoIP) And The Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) is relays in a Network Layer protocol that provides the functions like the extended routing, connection-orientation and also flow control, segmentation and error correction facilities in the SS7(SS7-Signaling System 7) Telecommunications Networks
- The Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) is a network layer protocol that provides features of extended routing.
- SCCP also provides Flow control, segmentation, connection-orientation, and error detection and error correction facilities in Signaling System 7 i.e.(SS7) telecommunications networks.
- This SCCP protocol relies on the services i.e. working on MTP for basic routing and for error detection.
- This SCCP is an interface or Modern Controller between the cisco call manager and the cisco VOIP phones i.e.(VoIP).
- The SCCP is from the transport layer for Tcap based applications and this SCCP protocol is placed over the MTP3 layer on the module.
- This SCCP protocol can route the messages to specific applications that reside at signaling points within it.
- SCCP is integrated with the MTP3 protocol after the MTP2 was created and developed, it is working along with the SCCP it is utilized to handle the non-circuit as well it exactly.
- SCCP is working on end-to-end routing, not on the point-to-point routing.
- The TCP port 2000 is reserved for the SCCP protocol i.e.(Skinny) protocol in it.
The Message Transfer Part Level 3 (MTP3B) broadband provides the message routing discrimination and the distribution (for peer to peer links)
- MTP3B is used for broadband signaling.
- It also provides signaling link management and load sharing.
- Using this MTP3B protocol can achieve the changeover between links within one link set.
- This MTP3B protocol is a broadband ISDN-based protocol used typically in the system modes Like ATM ( Asynchronous Transfer Mode ).
- MTP3B protocol is having three sub-layer SSCF, SSCOP, and AAL5.
- MTP3B uses in radio access.

---|---|---|
1. | SCCP- Signaling Connection Control Part | MTP3 – Message Transfer Part Level 3 |
2. | SCCP is used for flow control and error correction facilities in the SS7. | MTP3 is used for narrowband signaling. |
3. | SCCP is not a traditional TDM. | MTP3 is the traditional TDM |
4. | SCCP is an end-to-end routing. | MTP3 is a point-to-point routing. |
5. | SCCP uses the services of MTP for basic routing and segmentation and the connection-orientation. | The PC SSN pairs uses MTP3 to route the messages. |
6. | The SCCP can route the messages to specific applications that reside at the signaling points for it. | The MTP3 can only identify and distribute messages to specific points and the User parts. |
7. | SCCP supports GTT-(Global Title Translation). | MTP3 doesn’t support GTT-(Global Title Translation). |
8. | SCCP is on the network layer. | MTP3 – (B-ISDN) ATM adaptation layer. |
9. | SCCP is used in SS7 telecommunication networks. | MTP3 is used in 3G cellular networks. |
