How to Install Scribus on Ubuntu

An open-source, cross-platform desktop publishing tool is called Scribus. Brochures, newspapers, magazines, posters, novels, and even newsletters may all be designed and published using this method. Scribus is a free alternative to Adobe InDesign if you are familiar with it. Scribus contains all the functionality that a high-end program would have, including image editing, vector drawing, and layout creation. Both print and digital publications are available for the projects made in Scribus. The following is a list of Scribus’s main attributes:

Installation of Scribus on Ubuntu

Follow the below steps for successful installation of the Scribus application on the Ubuntu system.



Step 1: Firstly, execute the below command to add the repository.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scribus/ppa

 

Step 2: Now, update the repositories using the below command.



sudo apt update

 

Step 3: After adding the repository, install the Scribus application using the apt manager.

sudo apt install scribus

 

Step 4: To launch the application, go to the Activities Panel and search for Scribus.

 

Step 5: We will see, the icon of the application, so click on the icon to open the application.

 

The application is launched successfully. So now, let’s go to the actual usage of the application.

Usage of Scribus

Step 1: Click on the “New Document” tab, and we will get the following options.

 

Step 2: Now, we will open the “New from Template” tab and create a new design from the pre-made template

 

Step 3: We have created a new design for the CEO of GeeksforGeeks. 

 

So, we have installed the Scribus application and also demonstrated the usage of the application.
