Ernst and Young Interview Experience for EY GDS

This placement drive was conducted by our training and placement cell at Sister Nivedita University.

Round 1 :

• The written assessment was conducted in online mode and the first part was an aptitude test. The questions were on the topics of quantitative aptitude, reasoning, data interpretation, and verbal ability was also there.
• The questions on quants were from topics like Profit and loss, Average, Mixtures, Series based questions, Algebraic based questions. Overall the questions were of moderate level.
• The questions of reasoning were from Direction sense, sitting arrangement, puzzles, etc. They were of easy type.
• The verbal ability questions were comprehension based where we need to read the passage and then answer the questions that follow, jumbled words, fill-ups from options provided, tense, etc.

Suggestions: Try practicing questions beforehand from topics that I have mentioned on the websites like GeeksforGeeks, Prepinsta, etc.

Round 2 :

• Those who clear the first round were shortlisted for the second round which was also an online assessment round and this was a coding round.
• There were 4 coding questions in total. The difficulty level was arranged in a lower to higher-level fashion.
• The first question was of 1d array where we were asked to sort the array by bubble sort. It was an easy question.
• The next question was also of array and here we need to find the negative elements first in the array and then we need to move the element next to that negative element to the front in an array and arrange it in that order.
• The third question was also of the array and it was a 2d array and here we need to perform matrix multiplication. This question I have done many times beforehand but on that day it was not running, due to some problem that I was not able to find at that time.
• Then the last question was from strings which were very hard from that topic itself(I can’t remember the exact question sorry).

Suggestions: Try solving problems beforehand from topics like arrays, strings, Stacks, queues, recursion, etc. Try solving medium to hard-level problems from websites like GeeksforGeeks, PrepInsta, etc.

Round 3 :

• Those who cleared the second round were shortlisted for the next round which was the Technical Interview round. The officials have come offline to take the interview directly in physical mode.
• There were 4 tables arranged for the interview and at a time 4 persons can be interviewed at once. The interview started and for every guy it lasted for almost 20 minutes.
• The interviewer was a very humble person (as it seem to me), and as I seated he started questions from Java, Why java is preferred over other languages, then a few questions from OOPS, Polymorphism, and Inheritance, with examples. He was trying to confuse me while asking for examples.
• Then he gave me two programs to write on pen and paper – A prime number program and another one was binary search, in order to test my basic programming skills. Then he asked questions related to my project work and finally, I am done after that.

Suggestions: Always prepare theory as well as practice questions on how to explain them to someone. Also never write things on your resume that you don’t know. Prepare well.

Round 4 :

• 1. Those who were shortlisted for the Technical Interview round were informed within a day about their HR interview round. The HR interview round was taken in online mode.
• 2. The HR was friendly and he asked me questions related to my introduction, family background, and then some HR-related questions like where i see myself in five years, what is your goal behind joining this organization, etc.
• 3. At last one or two behavioral questions were there one was water is filled in a pot-related question(available on the internet) and the second one was if we tell you to relocate then whether it will be a problem for you or not and then I am done.

Suggestions: Always be confident about your answers and practice how to speak beforehand. Don’t hesitate to speak in English. Try practicing English communication on a daily basis. Be confident and everything will be fine.
