Argusoft visited the NIT Agartala campus to recruit freshers for the position of Programmer Analyst. Although I wasn’t sure if I would like the role, I decided to give it a try following my friends’ advice. I did this because the role fell under the normal tier, allowing me to sit for further placements, and it offered hybrid work options, including the possibility to work from home. I managed to make my way to the VP round, which was the last round I participated in before being eliminated. However, there was still one final round left, as I later learned from my friends who had gone further in the process.
Argusoft’s recruitment process took place on their own website, which unfortunately suffered from frequent functionality issues and lagging. No technical questions were asked in any of the rounds except for the first round, which consisted of two coding questions. Their prime requirement is good aptitude and communication skills.
Round 1: Online Aptitude
The first round of the Argusoft interview consisted of five sections: Quantitative, Reasoning, Verbal, Non-verbal Aptitude, and Coding. Some of the questions asked in this round are listed below:
- If a train travels 300 kilometers in 5 hours, what is its average speed in kilometers per hour?
- A store offers a 20% discount on all items. If the original price of a shirt is $50, what will be the discounted price?
- If LION is coded as “MJPQ,” how is TIGER coded in the same way?
- If all dogs are mammals, and some mammals are cats, can we conclude that some dogs are cats?
- What is the synonym for “pinnacle”?
- Construct a sentence using the word “ubiquitous.”
- Identify the pattern and predict the next figure in the series:
Which shape doesn’t belong in the group and why? - Write a Python function to check if a given number is a palindrome.
- Write a Python function to find the factorial of a given positive integer.
Round 2: HR Round
The second round involved an HR interview and solving puzzle questions.
- If the price of a laptop is reduced by 20% during a sale and then further reduced by 10% due to a special discount, what is the final price if the original price was $800?
- One morning A and B were talking to each other face-to-face at a crossing. If B’s shadow was exactly to the left of A, which direction was A facing?
- Imagine you have three boxes. One contains only apples, one contains only oranges, and the third contains a mix of both apples and oranges. All three boxes are labeled incorrectly. You are allowed to pick just one fruit from one of the boxes. Without opening the box, how can you correctly label all three boxes?
Round 3: VP Round
The third round, conducted by the Vice President, assessed your communication skills and presented medium-level puzzle questions.
- Give an example of a time when you had to collaborate with a team to achieve a shared goal. How did you contribute to the team’s success?
- A machine depreciates by 20% in the first year, 30% in the second year, and 40% in the third year. If the machine’s original value was 50,000, what is its value at the end of the third year?
- Why did you choose to apply for the role of Programmer Analyst at Argusoft?
Round 4: CEO Round
I later learned from my friends that the CEO round was characterized by questions on percentage, Ratio & proportion, Time & work and projects.
