Animating Run Cycle

The run cycle is as important as the walk cycle so we need to understand the basics of the run cycle for that we will not draw each figures frame by frame because that is a very time-consuming method rather we will give certain poses at a gap of 5 frames to give a keyframe and then animating the run cycle, this is the easiest method of run cycle animation. Follow the below steps to animate the run cycle.

Step 1: Create a new project in Adobe Flash.

Step 2: Create a basic character with all the parts at different layers and also with a base layer.

Step 3: Let us make the first running pose by placing the different parts at the correct positions.

Step 4: Make a line at the top of the character so as to have an idea that the character will jump as much while running.

Step 5: Now select frame 5 and add a keyframe by pressing F6.

Step 6: Now make the second pose of the character.

Step 7: Now select frame 10 and add a keyframe by pressing F6.

Step 8: Now make the third pose of the character.

Step 9: Now select frame 15 and add a keyframe by pressing F6.

Step 10: Now make the fourth pose of the character and select it to touch the upper line.

Step 11: Now after these four poses we will make opposite of these frames so insert a keyframe at frame 20 by pressing F6.

Step 12: Now copy the pose from frame 1 and paste it in frame 20.

Step 13: Now make it opposite by changing the position of hands and legs.

Step 14: Similarly copy poses from frame 5 and paste them in frame 25 and make it opposite.

Step 15: Now copy the pose from frame 10 and paste it in frame 30 and make it opposite.

Step 16: Now copy the pose from frame 15 and paste it in frame 35 and make it opposite.

Step 17: Now select extra frames and delete them.

Step 18: Select all frames and right-click on it a list will appear, click on Create classic tween to give motion.

Step 19: Now press Ctrl + Enter to see the animation.
