What Happens if a Connection Fails for Devices in a Bus Topology?

Answer: Bus topology has the structure of communication in which devices are connected to a single communication channel. If the connection fails for the devices, then the entire network’s functionality gets disrupted.

Below is the issues if connection fails for devices:

1. Communication Breakdown

The devices which are on the other side of the failed connection will face the communication breakdown, as these devices will not be able to send or retrieve data from the isolated Segment.

2. Impact on Network Performance

Due to the failure in the connection, the overall network performance will get affected, mainly the important devices are mostly affected due to the failure.

2. Data/Packet Loss

As the data or packet is transmitted in the network, if there is failed connection, then loss of sensitive data can be occurred. This will lead to disturbing in the ongoing processes, transaction or the data inconsistencies.

4. Network Partition

In the connection failure, the network can become partitioned into various segments. This unexpected network partitioning can lead to disruption into the communication and coordination among different devices.

5. Issue in Resource Allocation

The network devices can face problems in allocating resources after the connection failure occurs. This is directly impact the bandwidth allocation and overall network utilization.
