Cause 1: Cable Damage

In many cases, if the cable which connects the two nodes in the ring topology is damaged, then it can lead to the communication failure between these nodes, which breakdowns or stops the entire network.

Cause 2: Node Failure

In the ring topology, if the node gets malfunctioned or filled, then it can break the continuity of the ring, which causes the communication breakdown.
