Recently Wells Fargo visited our campus for Full-time Hiring, which consisted of Total 4 rounds :
- Online Test
- 2 Technical Rounds
- 1 HR round
The criteria of selection(shortlist for Online test) 7.5 CGPA, it varies according to their needs may vary collage to collage
Online Test: It consisted of 3 sections :
- English(vocabulary, sentence correction, Paragraph reading) Total 12 Questions 14 min
- Business aptitude(Questions were really tricky) Total 14 Questions 25 min : Questions were based on bar graphs.
In both the above 2 sections you were not allowed to go back after you attempted any question. - 2 coding questions (60 min): 1 was based on simple sorting & 2nd was based on simple DP. If you have good practice then definitely you can do both the questions.
I managed to do 1 complete question and 1 partial question(14/22 test cases passed) and was confident in English and Aptitude. Good shortlisted for interview
Technical round 1: 1 hr 10 min (Medium): The interview started with the interviewer’s introduction and then he asked me to tell about myself, the internships I did, and also the projects on which I worked. This went for around 10-15 min. Be through with your project. I used Docker in one of my projects so the interviewer specially focused on how/Why I used Docker. And also asked some basic questions on Docker to test my knowledge. We had a good discussion on it for around 10-12 min. Be through with the technologies you used in your project.
Then he asked some basic questions
- What are data structures, why do we need DSA, and about the data structure I like the most? In this I said Linked List, You can tell your favorite DS.
- First Question: Reverse a linked list, He asked me to share the screen and explain the code on notepad.
- Second Question: https://leetcode.com/problems/linked-list-cycle-ii/: I started with building the algorithm for the question, since I took more time the interviewer told me not to code as he was clear with my approach. Try to explain as well as code the question simultaneously.
- After this he started asking basic questions on OOPS like what is OOPS, pillars of oops, why oops
- Then he switched to DBMS and started asking some basic questions on normalization, 1NF, 2NF, and so on, what is the Primary key, and can it be NULL. He just wanted to check if I know about core CS fundamentals.
- Then at last he asked me a basic mathematical question: Given the time in a clock, find the angle between the hour and min hand(He just wanted to know my approach)
- Then he told me Do you have any questions: Tip: Ask a good question to the interviewer and not just ask about Work-life balance. Also, you can ask him/her to give feedback about your interview and how can you improve on yourself for further rounds.
Technical Round 2: 35-40 min: This round was taken by one of the senior managers at Wells Fargo. The interview started with a basic question Tell me about yourself
Then he asked me to tell him about the projects I did. Tip: Be thorough with each and every concept of your project because the interviewer didn’t have much background with DSA but he focused only on projects. He grilled me with multiple cross-questions. This continued for 15-20 min.
Then he started asking about OOPS, Pillars, Inheritance, Polymorphism, Need and use case, and Virtual functions(Don’t just try to mug up the concept of virtual functions, but try to tell the interviewer in terms of implementation details, like what is happening when you haven’t used virtual function and what will happen after you will use the virtual function, you can explain by giving examples), then again multiple cross questions on virtual functions.
He just wanted to test whether I had implementation skills in oops or I have mugged up the concepts, the interview ended with me being asked questions by the interviewer and taking feedback about my performance in the interview.
HR Round: 15 min (Telephonic): The HR directly called me on my phone, First he introduced himself, and then he asked about myself

- Why wells Fargo
- Any future study plans
- Location preference(Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai)
- Do you have any questions for me?
The results were out about 10 pm. Total 8 students were selected for FTE and I was one among them
Some tips :
- Please be thorough with your project.
- Try to have continuous communication with the interviewer, don’t remain silent, Think loud, and speak up whatever you are thinking.
- Even if you are telling/explaining your approach then try to take the feedback from the interviewer(Ask Questions like Are you getting what I am explaining, Are you with me within short intervals this keeps you connected with the interviewer).
- Be confident whatever the situation is, Belief in yourself, and Be positive(Tumna mehnat ki hai tumse nahi niklega toh kissa niklega).
- Try to ask some good questions at the end of the interview. Questions which I asked:
- Always try to take feedback about your performance in the interview.
- Are challenging tasks given to freshers and do freshers contribution to the critical/important decisions of the company.
- How do you see yourself on the day1 of joining Well Fargo and today? Growth opportunities for freshers.
- Does the top level managers interact with freshers time to time and how various teams coordinate among themselves in wells Fargo.
- Asked to HR : Your extracurriculars and do you get time for your extracurriculars after office?
