What was the First Capital of USA?

The first capital of the United States was New York City. After the American Revolutionary War, New York City served as the provisional capital from 1785 to 1790. During this time, the Confederation Congress met at various locations in the city, including City Hall and Fraunces Tavern. Then, in 1789, New York City became the first official capital of the United States under the newly ratified Constitution. It remained the capital until 1790 when the seat of government was moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Finally, in 1800, the capital was permanently established in Washington, D.C., where it remains today.

The largest state in the United States is Alaska with a total area of approximately 663,268 square miles (1,717,856 square kilometers). It is more than twice the size of Texas, the second-largest state. Alaska’s vast size includes a wide range of geographic features, from mountain ranges and forests to rivers and a long coastline.

Smallest state in USA – Rhode Island

Rhode Island is the smallest state with an area of 1,214 square miles. It is often referred as “The Ocean State”. It has a rich history and is known for its sandy shores and seaside Colonial towns. The total population of Rhode Island is estimated to be about 1.1 million.

• Alabama is the 30th largest state in the US & the 24th most populous of the 50 states. Its nickname is the “Heart of Dixie”. It is known for its Civil War history & culture.

• Alaska is the largest & third-least populous of the 50 states. In 1959, it became the 49th state in 1959. Juneau is Alaska’s capital, it is the most remote capital in the USA.

• Arizona is home to the Grand Canyons. It is the 48th state in USA.

• Arkansas– 27th largest state with a population of over 3 million, known for its southern culture.

• California is the 3rd largest state. In 1848, gold was discovered here, which led to a massive influx of people. It is one of the most popular states in the USA as well as the most populous state. It is home to Hollywood & some of the biggest tech companies in the world like Alphabet, Apple, Adobe, HP, Intel, Meta etc.

• Colorado became the 38th state on August 1, 1876. It was a popular destination for gold & silver prospectors in the 19th century. Apart from this, it was a major player in the American Civil War. The state was divided between Union & Confederate supporters. The Battle of Glorieta Pass was fought in Colorado in 1862. It is also home to Rocky Mountains, Great Plains & Colorado Plateau.

• Connecticut was one of the original 13 colonies of USA. On 9th January, 1788 it became the fifth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Its nickname is the “Constitution State” as it was the first state to adopt a written constitution.

• Delaware is the 2nd smallest & the 6th least populous of the 50 states with a population of 1.02 million residents in 2022. It is known as the “first state” as it was the first of the 13 original states to accept the U.S. Constitution.

• New York has rich history & culture. It is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the US, like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square & Central Park. Apart from this, it is a major centre for business, finance & media.

• Texas being the second largest state in the USA, both in terms of size & population. Located in the South Central region of the USA, it is also known as the Lone Star State. This is because when Texas declared itself independent in 1836 it flew a flag with a single star.

• Rhode Island is the smallest state in the USA, with a land area of only 1,545 square miles & a population of just over 1 million people.

• Washington, known as the State of Washington in order to separate it from the USA capital which is Washington D.C.
