Social Responsibility towards Different Interest Groups

A business is a part of society and it gets the manpower and resources required for the accomplishment of different activities from society. It means that the existence of a business depends upon society, and hence an organization should not ignore its responsibilities toward society. In other words, an organization should ensure that the organizational activities are conducted in a way that successfully fulfills its obligations or responsibilities towards society. It also means that a business should not indulge itself in any socially undesirable practice, such as adulteration, etc. By being socially responsible, an organization can achieve success in the long run, as it can easily gain the trust of consumers. Hence, the Social Responsibility of a business can be defined as the responsibility of an organization to take desirable decisions and actions that are ethical and satisfies the values of the society. 

According to Keith Davis, ‘Social Responsibility refers to the businessman’s decisions and actions taken for reasons at least partially beyond the firm’s direct economic or technical interest’.



Social Responsibility towards different Interest Groups

Business social responsibility is a voluntary effort of businesses to take a few steps and measures in order to satisfy the expectations of different interest groups. An interest group represents an association of individuals or organizations that on the basis of one or more shared concerns, attempts to influence public policy in their favor. Business is concerned with interest groups because every decision and action a company takes will directly or indirectly affect the interests of these groups.
