My Journey of Getting Into Gujarat Technological University (GTU)

Hi! I am an engineering student in the third year of college studying Information Technology and the name of my university is Gujarat Technological University which is famously known as GTU. Today, I am going to share my journey from 11th standard and will tell you how I ended up being a GTU student. So let’s get started!

I completed my higher secondary education at a local school located in Siddhpur, Gujarat. When I entered 11th standard, I had a dream of getting admission to IIT or NIT, and the principal of that school told me that they prepare their students for JEE, but after few months I realized that my school was more focused on preparing the students for GUJCET, which is a common entrance test conducted by the Gujarat Government for students who want to take admission in the top engineering colleges of Gujarat excluding IITs and NITs.

Now, in my case, I wasn’t able to prepare well for JEE, because I didn’t get that environment in my school. But, if you want to get admission to IIT or NIT, then I would suggest you do proper research and then choose the right school or coaching for yourself which focuses more on preparing the students for JEE.

But, if you are from Gujarat and want to take admission to one of the top engineering colleges of Gujarat, then GUJCET is for you. I decided to prepare for GUJCET and it was pretty easy to prepare because all they ask is from the syllabus of 12th standard. And if you focus well on the NCERT curriculum, you will be able to score well in the exam.

I scored 98 percentile in GUJCET and then decided to get admission to any good college in Gujarat. My physics teacher whom I respect a lot told me about VGEC, Ahmedabad which is affiliated with GTU. He said that it’s a very nice college and then I visited its campus and I also loved the environment of that college. I did some research on Google about this college and I was impressed, so I decided to take admission there. This is how I ended up being a student at GTU.

Now the thing I want you to understand from my journey is that having a dream is not just enough, you have to do proper research and then take the right steps to achieve your dream. In my case, I wanted to get admission in IIT or NIT, but because I didn’t do proper research, I didn’t achieve my dream.
