How to Install Graphical Network Simulator 3 on Windows?

Graphical Network Simulator-3 also known as GNS3 is a network software emulator. It was released in 2008. It is a free and open-source software which can be run on different operating systems like Linux, Unix, windows, mac, etc. It was developed by Jeremy Grossmann, Dominik Ziajka and Piotr Pękala. Its latest version is 2.2.27 which is released in 2021 on 10 June. It is written in python language. It has the capability to run on virtual machine as well as local machines. It is used to build simple and complex network simulations.

Installing Graphical Network Simulator-3 on Windows:

Follow the below steps to install Graphical Network Simulator-3 on Windows:



Step 1: Visit the official website on any web browser. Click on the Windows download button.



Step 2: It will ask to log in and to create an account, click on Create Account button.

Step 3: Next webpage will ask to fill in the basic details and email id to create an account. Fill in the details and click on Create Account button.

Step 4: Next webpage will appear, click on Free Download Button.

Step 5: Downloading of the executable file will start shortly. 

Step 6: Now check for the executable file in downloads in your system and run it.

Step 7: It will prompt confirmation to make changes to your system. Click on Yes.

Step 8: Setup screen will appear, click on Next.

Step 9: The next screen will be of License Agreement, click on I Agree.

Step 10: Next screen will be of choosing the Start menu folder so don’t do anything just click on the Next Button.

Step 11: Next screen is of choosing components, all components are already marked so don’t change anything just click on the Next button.

Step 12: The next screen will be of installing location so choose the drive which will have sufficient memory space for installation. It needed a memory space of 326.3 MB.

Step 13: After this installation process will start and will hardly take a minute to complete the installation.

Step 14: Click on Next after the installation process bar is complete.

Step 15: Next screen is of Solarwinds standard toolset, which is available for free, choose No and click on Next.

Step 16: Click on Finish after the installation process is complete.

Step 17: GNS3 is successfully installed on the system and an icon is created on the desktop.

Step 18: Run the software, set up wizard will appear, choose Run appliances on my local computer.

Step 19: Next screen is of local server configuration, don’t do anything. Click on Next button.

Step 20: Local server status screen will appear, it is showing successful connection.

Step 21: The last screen is of setup wizard summary, click on Finish button.

As the software is installed successfully and the interface is initialized.

Congratulations!! At this point, you have successfully installed Graphical Network Simulator-3 on your windows system.
