Dropbox is a file hosting service owned by the American firm Dropbox and has been in operation since 2007. It is based in San Francisco, California. Dropbox allows you to securely share, save, and access files. Cloud Storage, File Synchronization, Personal Cloud, and Client Software are the company’s key features. Dropbox is creating the world’s first user-friendly workplace, which means creating tools that decrease busywork so users can stay focused and organized while also staying in touch with their teammates. We will install Dropbox on the Ubuntu operating system in this tutorial.
Installing Dropbox on Ubuntu:
Dropbox can be installed on Ubuntu using either of the following methods:
- Using the Ubuntu Package Management GUI
- Install Dropbox Using the Debian Package via the Terminal
Method 1: Using the Ubuntu Package Management GUI
Step 1: Go to the following link and download the package for Ubuntu 64-bit or 32-bit.

Step 2: Navigate to the Downloads directory where the package is been downloaded.
Step 3: Now, open the package with Software Install.
Step 4: Click on the Install button for starting the installation process.
Step 5: After that, open the application from Activities Panel and complete the installation process.
Step 6: We have successfully downloaded and installed the Dropbox application on Ubuntu Operating System. Now, we can enter our login credentials to use the application.
Method 2: Install Dropbox Using the Debian Package via the Terminal
Step 1: Navigate to the Downloads directory where the package is been downloaded.
cd Downloads/
Step 2: Install the package using the apt package manager. Execute the below command in the terminal.
sudo apt install ./dropbox_2020.03.04_amd64.deb
Step 3: Verify the installation by executing the below command in the terminal itself.
dropbox
Step 4: Open the Activities Panel, and search for Dropbox to actually use the application.
