How does data flow in mesh topology?

Answer: In mesh topology, data flows through interconnected nodes using routing algorithms to determine the best path, making sure redundancy and reliable communication.

In mesh topology, the data flow process occurs in below steps.

Step 1: Source Node

The data originates from a source node within the mesh network, which starts the data transmission.

Step 2: Routing Decision

The source node selects the best route for the data using the network’s routing algorithm. This decision is taken using factors like shortest path, available bandwidth, and node availability.

Step 3: Intermediate Nodes

The data packet travels through intermediate nodes along the chosen route. Each node in the path forwards the packet based on the routing information it possesses, directing it toward the desired node.

Step 4: Destination Node

The data packet reaches the desired node, which is the intended recipient of the data.

Step 5: Acknowledgment

When the data is received, the desired node sends an acknowledgment back to the source node, stating successful data delivery.

Step 6: Alternative Routes

In case of node failure or congestion along the primary route, mesh topology allows for alternative routes to be used, making sure data can still reach its destination without any issue.

Step 7: Redundancy

Mesh topology’s multiple interconnections provide redundancy, enhancing network reliability by offering alternative paths for data transmission and reducing the risk of communication failures.
