The Hitachi Vantara on-campus drive was open to students from CS\IT\MCA streams in our college. Firstly, we had to register on their website by providing details about our candidature. The process consisted of 3 rounds – the online test, the techno-managerial round, and finally the HR round.
Round 1 – Online Test: The first round of the recruitment process was an online test on the first Naukri platform. The test consisted of 82 questions to be solved in under 110 minutes.
- The test contained 2 coding questions. I had to solve questions on the bubble sort algorithm and string rotation respectively.
- There were around 30 MCQs testing one’s English ability wherein questions related to articles, prepositions, spelling, tenses, etc. were asked. This section would be pretty easy to score in if you’re conversant in basic English.
- A major portion of the test was based on domain fundamentals. It consisted of MCQs on topics such as C++ programming, Java programming, Big Data and Cloud, Web UI (HTML, CSS, and Javascript), Structured Query Language (SQL), and pseudo codes.
- The technical part of the test was a bit challenging as it tested one’s knowledge of a multitude of CS-based concepts. Hence, a good amount of knowledge in computer fundamentals would be beneficial to do well in this part of the test.
Round 2 – Techno-Managerial Round: A few days later after the online test, around 80 students were shortlisted for the next round. These students were called to the college campus.
- This round consisted of a face-to-face interview wherein questions based on our resumes were asked.
- The interviewers mostly gave importance to projects mentioned in the resume and any relevant internship experiences in the past.
- Basic questions such as the Fibonacci series, prime number logic, etc. were also asked.
- In my case, I was asked a few questions about the projects mentioned in my resume regarding the technologies used and their applications.
- I was also asked about any previous experience I had.
Make sure to be clear with the content mentioned in your resume to ace this round.
Round 3 – HR Round: This was the last round which mainly comprised icebreaker questions for the HR interviewer to get to know you as an individual.
- I was asked a few questions such as:
- What would be your preferred location to work for our company?
- What does workplace diversity mean to you?
- Why did you decide to learn Japanese as a foreign language? (I had mentioned Japanese language proficiency in my resume)
- Which place would you consider your ideal holiday destination?
- What is your aim in life?
It took around 15-20 minutes to complete this round. This round was a way of assessing one’s communication skills and cultural fit. The results were declared on the very day of the interview process. 25 students were selected from our college. I was one among them 🙂
Tip: Be confident and stay calm during the interviews. It will help you to organize your thoughts in a better way.
