Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) Core Member Interview Experience

In 2022, during my first year of B Tech in CSE, I didn’t know about GDSC. Two months later, at a tech event, I learned about the club and its work with new technologies and innovation. I really wanted to join, but I found out that the selection process was already closed for the 2022 session. So, I had to wait until my second year of engineering.

About GDSC:

Google Developer Student Clubs are groups at universities for students who want to learn about Google developer technologies. Any student from any program who wants to improve as a developer is welcome. The goal of these clubs is to help students learn from each other and use Google’s tools and technologies. In these clubs, we learn and improve our developer skills with the goal of using our knowledge practically. At colleges, GDSCs organize webinars, workshops, tutorials, talks, and more to engage with students.

The selection process is the same for both positions, but being a Domain Lead is more demanding because only one person is selected to lead a specific domain. In this round, the college administers a multiple-choice question (MCQ) test. The questions cover general aptitude, math puzzles, multiple-choice questions on data structures and algorithms (DSA), and very easy level coding questions.

Round 2 (Interview):

After Round 1, they called selected candidates for an interview. But it was more like a casual chat about GDSC and our area of interest.

Here’s what they asked –

Then discussed about the roles and responsibilities, one need to take care of as a core member. Like, conducting seminers, webiners, contests, tech fest events, etc like this.

Conclusion:

As a core member of GDSC, your main job is to organize different events and activities. These can include things like seminars, webinars, contests, and tech fest events. You’ll also need to make sure these events run smoothly. That means planning, promoting, and hosting them. Plus, you’ll get to work with other core members and club advisors to come up with ideas and make decisions. Overall, your role is all about creating opportunities for students to learn and connect through technology. Good luck.
