Capgemini Interview Experience for Software Engineer

In this article, I will delve into my interview journey with Capgemini, during an On-Campus hiring process. Capgemini offered three distinct roles: Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Lead Software Engineer. Although the rounds were consistent across roles, the final package offered was contingent upon the candidate’s performance in each stage as well as during the interviews.

Round – 1: Online Test

The initial step involved creating a new account in Superset and applying through the platform (as per college instructions, no separate registration was provided). Subsequently, login credentials for Capgemini’s AON platform were sent for the test. The test comprised three sections:

Sections Topics

Section – 1

This section encompassed English MCQs alongside Technical MCQs. English MCQs primarily focused on synonyms, antonyms, voice changes, speeches, and comprehension, among others. A total of 30 questions were posed in this section.

The technical MCQ section featured questions on Python, SQL, Shell Scripting, and other technical domains. Additionally, there were pseudo codes where candidates were required to determine the output. A total of 45 questions were presented in this section.

This was also an elimination round.

Section – 2

Candidates who successfully cleared the English and Technical MCQ round proceeded to section 2. This was a Game-based Aptitude Round, where each candidate was randomly assigned four out of a variety of 24 games. Unlike traditional math aptitude questions, some games did not have a single correct answer. Instead, each answer carried a different point value, with the most suitable option garnering the highest points.

This was also an elimination round.

Section – 3 (Optional)

This round was exclusively for high-performing candidates from the previous two rounds, eligible for an enhanced package. It comprised coding questions (not MCQs) alongside a spoken English assessment. Performance in this round determined whether candidates would proceed to an interview for the higher package of 5.75 or 7.5 LPA.

THIS WAS NOT AN ELIMINATION ROUND

Round – 2: Interviews

Technical Interview

Interviews were scheduled based on candidates’ performance in the previous rounds. As a fresher hired for the Software Engineer role, my interview lasted 30 minutes and was conducted online. The questions posed during the interview included:

Upon concluding the technical questions, the interviewer inquired if I had any questions for them. I seized the opportunity to inquire about the latest technologies Capgemini was working on and the technologies a fresher should focus on in the current market. Satisfied with my responses, the interviewer concluded the session.

HR Interview

Two days post the Technical Interview, I underwent the HR interview, also conducted online. This interview lasted approximately 10–15 minutes, with questions as follows:

Verdict: I was extended the offer for the Software Engineer role.

This comprehensive narrative encapsulates my journey through the Capgemini interview process as a fresher with proficiency in Python, SQL, and Shell Scripting.
