Marco Polo and Rustichello da Pisa are both known for their collective efforts in writing some of the most famous books about the travels of Marco Polo. During the thirteenth century, Venice was in a war with Genoa which is why Marco Polo was imprisoned. There he met Rustichello da Pisa where two of them together started to frame stories and write books. Marco Polo recited his tales of travel and adventure, where he met large animals, giants, and unique wildlife creatures to Rustichello da Pisa and the latter wrote those stories in the cell where they lived.
