Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women (Autonomous), Bhimavaram Campus Experience for B.Tech

As I approach the end of my graduation journey(graduate in 2024) at Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women in Bhimavaram, I can’t help but marvel at the beauty of the campus. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the college boasts a stunning infrastructure that has been my home for the past few years. It has the characteristics of both tier 2 ( With respect to placements, etc..) and tier 3 (With respect to the location, etc…) colleges. Additionally, there are numerous clubs to join, offering exciting opportunities for exploration and involvement. It was one of the best-reputed colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

First year of college:

My APEAMCET rank is not so good enough to get admission to CSE. But, I have known that IT is too good here and is mostly equal to CSE. Got into IT and I have joined in here, but sadly it was COVID time and our classes went online. Even though we were at home, events were continued online. Programming language like C was introduced in the first semester and later continued with Python in the second semester. We went to college for the end examinations. Though it was not so exciting, it was good enough.

Second year of college:

The exciting journey starts here. The third sem was half online and half offline and fourth onwards it was truly a total college experience. Got introduced to DSA and Java in this period. Got involved in programs like WISE C and DS. I was also introduced to the hackathon which was conducted by our college. My journey as an Eco-friendly coordinator also started over the early months of my second year with a few interviews of course. Glad, I was a part of it. The second year is truly fun and a lot of learning experiences. Getting to know each other well laughing together and getting to know who chatted with whom while online classes. Thanking people who would share notes after online classes, etc.. Also, I was introduced to web development. So, this period is basically where the major seeds were sown.

The third year of college:

The seeds that were sown started to germinate slowly in the form of projects out of something we learnt and got introduced to React JS (A front-end framework), and built a few simple projects over this. And in the late third year, the major tension of placements and stuff related to this starts. Our HOD was like a pro in guiding us and he was the one who introduced us to new and trending stuff related to tech. Our faculty was always out there to answer our queries. We are allotted to particular mentors and the mock interviews buzz starts. I was also selected as the main co-ordinator of the Eco-friendly association. This period is a little hectic, yet the most important time you should keep your focus on.

Fourth year of college(Placement season):

People start to get placed in this period. You should be balanced. Of course, there are good faculty to be your support, and you have your mentors. But, finally, it’s you who gotta be confident, stable and consistent. Companies come and go. College also conducts CRT training(Which is Campus recruitment training), where you will be trained with aptitude and verbal and conducts mock interviews etc… Companies come and go. Some are gonna hire just 1 or 2 or 3 like in fingers. Which makes us feel bad about it. But hold on there is much more coming our way. I was just confident and consistent in my preparation although I failed a few interviews. But finally, I was placed before our seventh-semester examinations. I have seen multiple interview experiences on Geeks for Geeks as well. A few companies came offline, and most were online. Even though it’s a recession, the placements were good enough(Might be better than in previous years, obviously then, it was not a recession period) and still, the placements are going on. Because we are talking about the college, The chairman sir has a great vision and the college has a great relationship with many companies and great people, as far as I know.

College fests:

People might assume that Women’s colleges aren’t that fun enough. But, the truth is completely opposite. My experience with SVECW is just full of fun. The Women’s Day celebration is just another level. Full of performances and DJ night. Pongal celebrations were even more great, A small village kind of environment is created in our huge ground and desi treats, like the original and signature foods of West Godavari, the bulls, the rides, etc.. were super fun. On New Year’s Eve, Christmas Eve, what not everything is celebrated. The Environment days are celebrated by us (Eco-friendly association) and then the International dance will be celebrated by the dance club. So, certain days are celebrated by respective clubs. So, you have got so many events to enjoy. SVECW – not just a place of fun, but a secure place.
