I applied for the Senior Research Engineer position at SHL Labs as an off-campus opportunity.
During the initial round, I submitted my resume, detailing my academic qualifications and completed projects.
Subsequently, I received an email indicating that the second round would entail a digital interview process. To evaluate my professional background, the company arranged for a digital interviewer named SIA. I was thrilled that I was experiencing my first interview conducted by an AI-powered system.
I was excited to explore and learn more about how AI is transforming recruitment processes. With this, I am hopeful that this interview will help me gain insights that I could utilize in my future job applications. SIA posed questions regarding my work experience and previous projects, all of which were straightforward.
The following are the questions that SIA asked me:

- Can you provide me with a list of the projects that you have finished or are currently working on?
- Name one project that you consider to be an achievement in your life.
- Who are all the team members working on this project?

- Could you please provide me with the tech stack that you have learned and used in this project?
- What have you learned from this project that you would like to apply in the future?
- Why do you want to join SHL Labs?
- Any questions about the role you want to ask?
The AI-driven interview spanned 40–45 minutes. While the outcome did not culminate in my selection for the role, the experience itself has proven to be a valuable learning opportunity for my future endeavours. I hold the view that my participation in the interview has enriched my understanding of the AI-assisted recruitment process, thereby providing me with unique insights into the current state of the job market.
