Power BI – How to Share a Report?

The reason to develop,  Power BI online service was to create a dynamic sharing and updating of reports and dashboards. This helps developers, to work on a real-time project, and also helps to keep track of the entire project by others. Hence, having knowledge of how to share Reports is important. In this article, we will learn how to share the reports in the power bi online service. 

Sharing Reports in Power BI 

Consider an example, you have a report name sample, and you want to share the report with some restricted people. 



The following are the steps: 

Step 1: Open your Power BI online service. Go to My workspace

 

Step 2: All, the reports, and datasets published on the power bi online service, will be visible here. 



 

Step 3:  You can observe a report name sample, in the My Workspace. 

 

Step 4: The report is opened. Click on the Share button. 

 

Step 5: A dialogue box name, Send link is opened. It consists of three parts. Part1, where you can choose for which organizations the link should work, this part has been explained in detail in the next point. Part2, consists of three options, first, select the people to which you want to share the link, by entering their email address, second, add a message if any and, third, Send button, to send the link to the person, on the recipient’s email. Part3 comprises of various options, by which you could share the link in different forms. 

 

Step 6: Click on Part1, it shows three options. The options mentioned are self-explanatory by their names. Two check boxes also appear in the settings section. Select them, according to your choice of work. Click on the Apply button. 

 

Step 7: Type the name of the person/email, to which you want to provide access. Click on the Send button. 

 

Step 8: The link has been sent to the recipient, and the report has  been successfully shared. 

 

Step9: A mail, will be received by the recipient.
