Why did the Pilgrims come to America?

Answer: The Pilgrims came to America in search of religious freedom.

Where did the Pilgrims come from?

The Pilgrims, also known as the Pilgrim Fathers, came from two main places:

1. England

Most Pilgrims were from England, especially from areas like Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire. These places had a lot of people who disagreed with the church at that time.

2. Netherlands

Because they were treated badly for their religion in England, many Pilgrims went to the Netherlands around 1608. They lived in a city called Leiden for about 12 years. This is why they’re sometimes called the “Mayflower Pilgrims,” as they left from Plymouth, England, but actually came from the Netherlands.

Three Reasons Pilgrims came to America

The Pilgrims, a group of English people who wanted to practice their religion freely, came to America in 1620 for 3 main reasons:

1. Religious Freedom

2. Better Life

3. Self-Rule
