My journey from being a fresher to winning a hackathon organized by J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.

Hello, Namaste to everyone who took some time to read this article.

Let me tell you about my journey and all experiences.

I am not even 18, but yes, I am in my 4th semester right now, which means the 2nd year of engineering. I know this age is too young for engineering pressure. Pressure? Of course, I am from the Electronics and Communication branch. It is really tough in itself. And doing something extra(tech related) with it is really difficult. Yes, I am more interested in the tech field because I believe that this field brings new experiences and learning every day.

Let me take you back to the time just after the 12th boards ended. There was a pretty good time at that time because college would start from November and the 12th boards ended in June. Yes, like everyone else, I watched lots of series. But then, I read such articles, like now you are reading mine. It motivated me a lot. I started learning the programming language C and started with web development even when I didn’t have my laptop for practicing it. I waited for my sister to sleep, and then at night, I used her laptop to do all this. Then came the 1st year of college life. I joined Katalyst India as a mentee. Now, I had to manage college academics, take training at Katalyst on weekends, and pursue my passion, that is, continue learning Java. So, till now, I hope you understand why age is just a number.

Let me shine a spotlight on one of the most interesting parts of my life. I was awarded the “Miss Rookie Gold Award 2023” for my outstanding performance in my first year of engineering among all talented girls of all batches in Katalyst. To receive this award, I had my first solo flight to Goa for the annual convention’23. The girl who had never gone to Delhi alone had gone to Goa via flight. That moment was like a horror for me. I even had a fever due to fear. And then, after reaching there, I had vomiting and all too. But I was trying to boost my confidence throughout the journey. It was a proud moment for me when I was coming back home from Goa with a trophy and a cash prize of 10 thousand.

Also, I never stopped there. I won the Generation Tech Hackathon organized by JP Morgan and Chase.

Then comes my 2nd year of engineering. I had given an interview for the GDSC club and became a member of the Google Developer Student Club.

Also, I got selected as the “GeeksforGeeks Campus Mantri” for my college.

Currently, I am learning Data Structures and Algorithm. I got many rejections too, but yes, the 2nd year is just for learning and participating. It’s all about consistency, giving contests, participating in hackathons, organizing events, and growing a network.

In the end, I would say, many people will come and try to stop you, but you do not have to stop. Motivate yourself every morning before starting any task.

YOU CAN DO IT, YOU WILL DO IT, YOU HAVE TO DO IT, NO OTHER OPTION.
