Multiplying by 5, 50, 25 – Vedic Maths

Vedic Maths comprises the most useful techniques that can be used to solve complicated problems. It comprises of tricks related to multiplication, addition, subtraction, division, and divisibility. Here we will mainly focus on Multiplication and Division by 5,25,50. Let us be familiar with some terms:

Multiplication by 5, 25, 50

In Vedic Maths we have some tricks to perform multiplication by 5,25 or 50. Using these tricks we can solve for higher multiplier values like 500 or 5000. The steps are as follows:

Now let us have a look at the example,

Multiply 9999 by 25

In the above example we first expressed 25 as 100 by 4. Then we multiplied 9999 with 100 and divided the result by 4.

Division by 5,25,50

We use this technique when we are dividing the number by 5, 25 and 50. We can use this technique for higher values of divisors like 500 or 5000. The steps to perform the division are as follows:

The example is as follows:

Perform division 9999 by 25

In the above we expressed 25 as 100 divided by 4. After this we expressed 9999 as 10000-1 which is another Vedic Mathematics trick. Then we performed the mutiplication and divided the result by 100.

Solved Problems

Multiply 55×50

We will express 50 in terms of 100 and 2 and then perform the division and multiplication respectively.

Multiply 5678 by 5000

We can write 5000 as 50×100

Then we can apply the trick on 50 and then later multiply it by 100

Divide where the dividend is 897 and the divisor is 50

Since the divisor is 50 we can use the Vedic trick to perform the division.

Perform Multiplication 7890 by 5

We can express 5 as 10 divided by 2 and then carry out the multiplication and division operation.

Divide 790 by 25

Expressing 25 as 100/4 we get

Perform division where Divisor is 50 and Dividend is 10001

Here we are expressing 50 as 100/2

Multiply 423 by 25

Expressing 25 as 100/4 we get

Frequently Asked Questions
