I am Madhumitha and I have shared my major throwback experience in the Zinglin Campus Challenge (ZCC), a video-making contest conducted by Zinglin Media Private Limited and UFO Moviez India Limited all over India in the year 2021.
About ZCC
Zinglin Campus Challenge (ZCC) is an online contest which was conducted by Zinglin Media Private Limited and UFO Moviez India Limited all over India in the year 2021. The company is an entertainment company that has an app called Zingshorts which allows the contestants to post some videos that are similar to the reels on Instagram. The app will be similar to many video creation apps like TikTok, Mojo, etc. The contestant can post their hobbies or any video created by them. Many colleges have participated in this contest. This company conducted a video-making contest in which the winner will be awarded goodies and cash rewards. The app is available in the Google Play Store as ZingShorts. You can also try it and check it out.
My participation in the contest
This contest was held in 2021 and I got the information through my WhatsApp app. I was not aware of this contest but one of my classmates got participated in this contest. I had a little interest in participating in it but I had no idea whether I would win or not. Then I enrolled my name in the contest. I was in the year of my undergraduate in Lady Doak College, Madurai. In the year of May 2021, I was on my semester holidays and I had lots of time. I created videos based on my hobbies. There were some rules regarding video creation in the contest. The rules were:
- No video should be downloaded from the internet.(It will be subjected to copyrighted)
- No video should contain any watermarks in it.
- The video posted should be creative.
- Videos should not be posted anywhere.
- The participants must be active in the competition.
My work in the contest
Since it is a video making contest, I had the idea of posting my hobbies and day-to-day activities in it. The app has a very good user interface and it is easy to handle. Similar to Instagram reels and YouTube shorts, this ZingShorts app also contains the same features. I have very good skills in calligraphy, painting and DIYs. I usually posted it by making videos of it. I also posted my day-to-day activities such as cooking, gardening, and hobbies like playing games. I concentrated on it and gave my best in it.
Challenges that I faced in the contest
The student ambassadors of my college gave me a daily task of posting videos in the app through a Whats App group. They gave a limited number of videos to be posted in the app. They also gave appreciation for each contestant for their valuable work. It also gave me a very good motivation for me to post. Then Mid-season Event arrived. I was about to give my best for that event. This Mid-season Event has been conducted for 2-weeks. The contestants were very busy with their work. I also had a network problem during the event in which I was supposed to post my work so that I couldn’t be active for that event. Then the results arrive. Contestants who have been given their valuable work won the event but unfortunately I didn’t win the event. I was broke down. One of the student ambassadors encouraged me to put effort for the main contest. She also gave me a very good motivation for me to win the contest. Though it is a mini-event of the contest, I also strongly believe in myself and I tried to put effort in posting videos in the app.
What’s the Result?
The contest has been extended for the next 10 days by the company so that the contestants have a lot of time and pleasure for posting their creative videos in the app. I also posted some creative videos of my day-to-day activities and hobbies such as gardening, cooking, painting, DIY, etc. Then the result came in the beginning of June 2021. The student ambassadors of my college have posted the winners and runner-up list in the Whats App group. I was about to be thrilled but not. My name was not on the winners name list. Though my name is not on the winners list it was been in the runner-up list. I was the third runner-up of my college in ZCC. I was so surprised and happy to see it. Then the company sent me a certificate through my mail and goodies as rewards for becoming the runner-up in that contest.
