KCET Exam Experience

Introduction:

Undertaking the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) in August 2021 was a pivotal moment for me as it marked my endeavor to secure admission to an engineering college. This journey encompassed rigorous preparation, unexpected challenges, and ultimately, valuable insights that I’m eager to share.

Preparing for the Exam:

When I initially started my journey towards engineering exams, my primary focus was on excelling in the JEE Main. As a result, I didn’t allocate much time or attention to the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). However, as I progressed into my second year of preparation, I began to recognize the importance of diversifying my efforts to include preparation for the KCET as well.

I had given my two attempts of JEE which didn’t end well (66%ile and 53%ile). By this time my board exam was also over. I knew now the only option for my left was KCET and I had 2 months for my preparation. So motivated to overcome my regrets about JEE results was my driving motivation in my KCET preparation.

With just two months remaining before the KCET, I made a conscious decision to realign my priorities and dedicate all my focus to this crucial examination. This shift in mindset prompted me to re-evaluate my study approach and adopt a more comprehensive strategy. One of the first steps I took was to immerse myself in the wealth of resources available, particularly the previous year’s question papers. I found immense value in reviewing these past papers as they provided invaluable insights into the exam pattern, question types, and areas of emphasis. Additionally, I discovered a gem of a resource in the form of the “MTG previous year question bank book.” This comprehensive Question Bank not only offered a vast repository of the previous year’s questions but also provided detailed explanations and solutions, which proved instrumental in enhancing my conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.

In parallel, I turned to online platforms such as YouTube to supplement my preparation with tips, tricks, and guidance from experts in the field. These educational videos offered a wealth of strategies and techniques to optimize my study approach and maximize my performance on exam day.

NOTE: You can surely take a crash course if needed since for exams like CET, crash courses are found to be useful. choice is yours

Recognizing the significance of the importance weightage of the 12th standard syllabus in the KCET, I devoted considerable time to revisiting key concepts and topics from my NCERT textbooks. I engaged in rigorous revision sessions, ensuring that I had a solid grasp of the fundamental principles and theories relevant to the exam.

Experience on the Day of the Exam:

Despite meticulous preparation, the day of the exam presented unforeseen hurdles. In a moment of panic, I discovered that I had forgotten to bring a pen. Fortunately, a fellow test-taker at the same exam center graciously lent me one, averting a potential crisis and underscoring the importance of camaraderie in challenging situations.

Exam Results and Insights:

Upon receiving my exam results, I found them to be slightly below my initial expectations. Despite this, I secured a commendable rank, placing around 15K out of 1.3 lakh candidates. This achievement not only afforded me admission to my desired branch, CSE, in my list of colleges but also instilled a sense of pride in surpassing such formidable competition. Reflecting on my journey, I’ve gleaned valuable insights that I believe are instrumental for aspirants embarking on similar endeavors. Prioritizing a solid foundation in each subject, maintaining meticulous notes for quick reference, and fostering a supportive peer network are indispensable elements in navigating the complexities of competitive exams.

In conclusion, my experience with KCET underscored the importance of resilience, adaptability, and the unwavering support of peers in overcoming obstacles and realizing one’s academic aspirations. Hope you got some points that u can carry forward and benefit
