Life Lessons and Late-Night Coding: My Journey at IIIT Nagpur
The youthful and dynamic IIIT Nagpur is home to a vast 100-acre campus, and cutting-edge facilities, with a strong emphasis on developing tech wizards. From an enthusiastic first-year to an experienced senior, my trip here has been an enlightening and exhilarating one.
The first year was like a fire baptism. We learned about fundamental engineering ideas through lectures, and we gained practical experience in labs. The people are the finest part. With their wide range of experiences and contagious energy, my fellow roommates became a second family. We threw down huge birthday bashes, stayed up late studying for tests, and developed a steadfast support network.
The program covered more ground in computer science as I went along. We were forced to collaborate, think creatively, and refine our coding abilities via difficult assignments. Teachers, some of whom had already worked in the field, took on the role of mentors, helping us make decisions about our careers as well as our studies.
IIITN is more than a research network. Legendary are the yearly fests, both technical (“Cognito”) and cultural (“Aarohi”). These activities, which range from dancing competitions to hackathons, highlight student ability, encourage cooperation, and offer a much-needed reprieve from the daily grind. I’ll always treasure the evenings we spent supporting our hostel teams or taking part in oddball tournaments.
At IIITN, placements are a highlight. Businesses in the tech sector compete with one another to hire students. Our specialized training cell gives us the tools we need to ace interviews. It was encouraging to see seniors land dream jobs, and it demonstrated the institute’s dedication to producing professionals who are prepared for the workforce.
When I go back, there are things I wish I had done differently and things I did really well. I became an expert time manager, balancing extracurricular activities and schoolwork. But in my early years, I ought to have looked for more internship possibilities.
The collaborative environment at IIITN is its strongest feature. Professors promote candid conversations, and seniors are happy to assist juniors. The other side? The campus has few recreational amenities and is still under development. However, this is more than made up for by the emphasis on academics and the strong sense of community. IIIT Nagpur is the right location for you if you’re searching for a place to push yourself, advance your technical skills, and make friends for life. Just be ready for numerous cups of tea, late-night coding sessions, and a journey that will make you a well-rounded tech expert.
