I’m currently in my first year pursuing a BTech in ECE at IIIT Kota, and it’s been quite a ride with its share of highs and lows. Despite the challenges, I’ve had a blast and can already tell that college life here will be the best part of my journey.
About Campus
Let’s talk about the campus first. Finally, we have our own space, spanning about 100 acres. It’s a dream come true, but there have been hurdles. We expected basic facilities by the first semester, but things like a proper sports ground and library were missing. However, we’ve seen improvements, like getting a canteen.
Academics
My first semester was a whirlwind. Beyond just academics, there were numerous clubs where I could explore my interests. From day one, I was determined to learn something new. Seniors were incredibly supportive, guiding me through various club activities. But, I’ll admit, I also spent a lot of time hanging out with friends, which affected my studies and grades.
Fests
When it comes to college fests, we didn’t have a cultural fest yet, but our tech fest was a hit. There were hackathons, web relays, and even a DJ night, all managed exceptionally well by the organizing team, which included us first-years.
Events and programs
We’ve celebrated every occasion, from Ganesh Chaturthi to Dussehra, and even intra-college sports events. The campus environment is fantastic, with spacious hostels, hygienic classrooms, and well-equipped labs. The only downside is the occasional pollution from nearby factories.
Connectivity and Placement
Transport has been a headache, with limited connectivity through the city, leaving us mainly reliant on buses. However, the silver lining is the promising placement opportunities. Recent years have seen excellent placements, with impressive packages offered to students. Overall, despite the challenges, I’m optimistic about the future here at IIIT Kota.
