1. Journey to JAC and IIIT Delhi
As a student with a strong aspiration to excel in the field of computer science and applied mathematics, my journey to IIIT Delhi was not just about securing a seat but about embarking on a transformative educational experience. It all began with the Joint Admission Counseling (JAC), where I initially aimed for admission to IITD but eventually found my path to IIIT Delhi due to my higher CRL
2. Challenges and Lessons from JAC Counseling
The JAC counseling rounds were both challenging and enlightening. Despite not landing my first choice, the process taught me valuable lessons about adaptability and making informed decisions. Finally, in the second round of counseling, I secured a seat in BTech CSAM at IIIT Delhi for the batch 2023-2027.
3. Campus Welcoming: Document Verification and Initial Days
The journey didn’t end with freezing my seat; it was just the beginning. Visiting the IIIT Delhi campus for physical document verification on 31st July was a delightful surprise. Senior students welcomed us with warmth and guided us through the verification process, setting a positive tone for what was to come.
4. Induction Program: ORION Group and Discoveries
The real excitement kicked off with the 5-day induction program (2nd August – 6th August). Divided into groups, I found myself in the “ORION” group, where each day was filled with new discoveries about IIIT Delhi. The initial days focused on administrative introductions, departmental overviews, and glimpses into the vibrant research labs that define IIIT Delhi’s academic prowess.
Distinguished speakers, including a Professor from IIIT-Delhi (Founding Director 2008 – 2018), Padma Shri Awardee, Honey Bee Founder, and Retd. IIM Professor, set the stage with their insightful talks and experiences.
Notable personalities like Aman Dhattarwal and stand-up comedian Aditya Kulshreshtha, aka Kullu, shared valuable insights, advice, and laughter, further enriching the induction experience and setting the tone for a fulfilling academic journey ahead.
5. Inclusivity through Clubs and Workshops
One of the most intriguing aspects of the induction program was the exposure to IIIT Delhi’s diverse clubs and workshops. From coding clubs like Foobar to dance clubs like Madtoes and workshops on hackathons and web development by Build, every aspect of student interest was catered to. The ease of joining clubs as a freshman and the pathway for seniors through interviews and SOPs added a layer of inclusivity and encouragement.
6. Academic Rigor: Challenges and Rewards
As classes commenced on 7th August 2023, I stepped into a realm of possibilities, armed with newfound knowledge, friendships, and aspirations. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The academic rigor at IIIT Delhi was challenging yet rewarding. The hectic schedule, coupled with the high standards of education, pushed me to strive for excellence in every aspect of my academic journey.
7. Community and Growth
The welcoming and supportive environment at IIIT Delhi assured me that this was not just an institution but a community that nurtures growth, creativity, and excellence amidst the hustle and bustle of academic life.
8. Embracing the Journey Ahead
My admission journey at IIIT Delhi taught me that sometimes, the best experiences come from unexpected paths. It’s not just about where you start but how you embrace the journey and the opportunities it presents. As I look forward to the years ahead, I am excited about the challenges, learnings, and memories that await in this dynamic educational ecosystem.
