You can either upload your existing document or create a fresh folder to share it. Here we are creating a fresh folder and will share it by email.

Step 2: Click on the Create menu and select Folder.

Step 3: Now Enter the folder name and click the Create button.

Step 4: Your folder will be created, Now hover over the folder and select share.

Step 5: Grant access rights to either view or edit the ‘My Projects’ folder.

Step 6: Enter the email address and Click the Share Folder button.

Step 7 (Optional): You can further change access settings for ‘My Projects’ under ‘Folder settings’, ‘Edit link’, and ‘View link’.

Often, we want to share specific files from a folder. Instead of sending the entire folder, you can simply select a particular file and share it via Dropbox by email.

For example, I want to share the ‘New wallpaper’ file from the ‘My Photos’ folder. Follow these steps to share the file on Dropbox. Here’s how:

Step 1: Click on the folder from the left panel and select the file you want to share, click on the Share button.

Step 2: Adjust access settings before sharing any file. For that Click on the Settings button.

Step 3: You can change both File and Link viewing settings accordingly.

Step 4: Now enter the email address of the person you want to share this file and Click Share file

Note: As you can see, you can send an invitation email to the person to access this file. Alternatively, you can create and copy the file link and share this link explicitly via email or messaging apps.

Step 5: The recipient will receive an invitation mail to view the file ‘New Wallpapers.jpg’ on Dropbox

Please notice that according to the settings we configured for the file, only view access has been allowed. So the person can only view the document. They can’t make any changes to it. They can download it to make a copy of the document on their PC.

It is very handy for sharing things with others like the collection of pictures.

How to Send a File Request to Dropbox by Email?

Another feature available on Dropbox is the ability to request files from others by creating a file request. When you send a file request, the recipients will receive an email asking them to upload the specific files or folders you’re requesting. Let’s see how to create a new file request.

Step 1: Click on the File Request option from the left panel and select New Request.

Step 2: Enter the Title( i.e. what the request is for) and the description(optional) and click the Create button.

The recipient will receive an email like this. They will know that you are requesting a work report. So they just have to click ‘Upload files’ to share those documents with you.

Recipients can add files and folders from a computer or can simply drag and drop files onto the area and see the upload progress.

This allows guests to upload files to a specific shared folder in your Dropbox account, without accessing or seeing other contents.

How to Collaborate With Someone On Dropbox?

What if two or more people want to collaborate on a set of documents? It’s simple with Dropbox. We can collaborate with other Dropbox users, which helps us carry out a project collaboratively. Let’s see how to collaborate with other Dropbox users. It’s a very simple process.

Step 1: Click on the Create menu and select shared folder.

Step 2: Enter the folder name and the recipient address.

Step 3: Also add Edit and view rights accordingly and click the Share button.

Step 4: You will see that a shared folder is created. It has a slightly different shared symbol. Double-click to open this folder.

Step 5: You can add files to this folder to work collaboratively with other people. You can add more members to work with this document

The recipient will receive an invitation to edit the ‘My Shared Folder’. They need to click on the Add to Dropbox button to collaborate with you.

Once they accept the invitation and add it to their Dropbox, they can now make changes to this file. They can modify it, add to it, they can delete it, they can do whatever they want. Because it’s a shared document. Both of the Dropbox accounts that are linked with this will always have access to the most current version of this file.
