Hi. I am currently working as an SEO Associate(Full Time) at GeeksforGeeks. On January 1st 2024, My internship got converted to full time role after the completion of internship which was started in July 2023. I have curated my SEO Internship experience at GeeksforGeeks.
I applied for SEO Internship at GeeksforGeeks through a google form which i got from a LinkedIn post of an HR at GeeksforGeeks. After 2days of filling the google form, i received a call from HR regarding the same. They asked about my self and my experience with search engine optimization.
I did an internship at Scaler Academy and i was having practical experience after working on my own blog in past, so i just explained to the HR. So they got impressed and told me that your interview for the first round will be scheduled for tomorrow i.e. on 31 Mar 2023 for 30 minutes.
I was studying in 7th semester of my bachelors at Purnea College of Engineering, Bihar. Unfortunately, My 7th mid-term exam was going on and they scheduled the interview on the same date just after 30 minutes after my exam.
Good thing was i had good practical experience in SEO, so i just prepared the theoretical questions on SEO and i was feeling very confident. Then i watched a youtube playlist of SEO Tutorial where i just randomly saw the videos which i was not quite familiar with. Next day, after giving my exam i reached at my hostel. After relaxing for 5 mins, I sit on my desk and waited for the interview time.
On the exact time at 5:30 PM, I joined the meeting. After 5 mins, the interviewer joined the meeting. He was a senior SEO analyst at GeeksforGeeks. So the interviewer started the conversation with basic conversation. Then he asked about my self and where are you from and currently where are you studying.
I explained it and then interviewer asked me about my experience with SEO. So explained them about my previous 2 experiences as an intern and experience from my blog. Then he asked me about what was your exact work at Scaler and how was the experience.
Then he asked me to share my blog and he asked me questions like what is CMS and how you built the website. Then he moved to basic seo questions on keyword research, type of keyword, black hat and white hat seo etc.
Then he asked me what is search console and difference between search console and google analytics. After it they asked me few full forms in SEO like PD, KD, DN, CDN etc. I explained it very well and then he asked me about schema and types of schema. I didn’t explained him clearly but he helped me understanding Schema.
After it, interviewer started taking interest and he asked me so many questions which i explained it very well and he was impressed.
Moving forward, he told me share the link of one best article which i written, so i shared article of Scaler Academy and my blog link written by me. After completion of 1 hr, he asked me about GeeksforGeeks which i explained him as it helped me in all subjects of my semester exams.
Then he shared two link in chat and asked me that how you can improve the rank of this article and basic mistakes in this article. He told me to take some time and analyze. I explained it and he seems impressed. This round ended in 1:30 hrs. Interviewer was very friendly and was helping me when i got stuck. This interview felt like a conversation.
The first round ended in 1:30 hrs and he told me to ask any question then i asked few question about the feedback of interview. He told me that you will receive an assignment link from hr on mail.
After the first round of interview, HR sent me an assignment link in which there was 2 task. One task was to write an article on mentioned topic and second task was to improve the article and give suggestions in detail. I submitted this after 2 days with in the deadline.
After it, HR told me to wait for few days and he will call with result. So after, 20 days, I received the call from HR that you got selected and you will receive the offer letter soon. Also he mentioned details like joining date, location and benefits etc. After 1 day, I received the offer letter and joined on the same date.
After working for 5 months, My internship got converted to full time on 1 January 2024. This was my SEO Interview experience at GeeksforGeeks. Hope it will help you to prepare for the SEO role opportunities at GeeksforGeeks.
