WordPress was written in PHP language by Matt Mullenweg. It is one of the most popular interfaces that allow users to customize and manage the website from its back-end content management system. To organize the whole process of creating, storing, and showcasing web content in an optimal way WordPress can be used. WordPress was the tool that enhances the regular typography of day-to-day writing, nowaday it is modified.

In this article, we are going to discuss how we can Moderate Comments in WordPress Posts or Pages.

Moderate Comments in WordPress Posts or Pages: WordPress allows users and visitors to add comments to their website posts and pages. Through comments, visitors can discuss with you or discuss with other visitors and authors. Admin can also moderate the comments, without approval from admin user’s comment will not appear on the website page or post.

Let’s see the steps to Moderate Comments in WordPress Posts or Pages Easily and Quickly:

Step 1: First go to the WordPress login panel and try to login into the WordPress Dashboard by providing the username and password. To access the login panel You can add ‘/wp-login.php’ at the end of your website URL.

After login into your own WordPress, you will be able to see a dashboard in a similar way to this:

Step 2: We have to search and open the Discussion section under the Setting option. For that,

From the menu option on the left side of the WordPress page. Go to the Setting  >> Discussion.

After you select and click on Discussion Section from the menu option, you will be able to see a similar Page like this as shown in the screenshot:

Step 3: Under the Discussion Setting page you will find the comments section. In this section, you will find Before a comment appears, Comment moderation, and Disallowed comments.

Before a comment appears:

  • If we set this open, a comment can be manually approved
  • If we set this open, the comment author can look at the previously approved comment.

Comment moderation: It holds up the comments in the queue if it contains 2 or more links. When these words are present in the comment. These comments will be put in that queue.

Disallowed comments: When these words are present in the comment. These comments will be put in the trash automatically.

After providing the details, it will automatically save the details and provide a similar update as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 4: Below screenshot will show, how comment moderation will work. Here I am using a different account to add comments on the Page (Refer to WordPress Add Comment).

After adding a comment on the page ‘Your comment is awaiting moderation’ message will be displayed on the page. The comment will not appear to other users/visitors until Admin/Approver approves the comment. And how to approve the comments in WordPress we will learn in Different articles.
